Weaver Group has the following positions available, for upcoming projects within the Grande Prairie, Alberta area: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Year, Welding Apprentices
Job Responsibilities:
- Comply with all regulatory safety protocol and attend on-site safety meetings.
- Identify safety risks and hazards, and comply with relevant safety procedures and regulations.
- Assist welder(s) to set up rigs and move between work areas.
- Follow welders' instructions to adjust welding machine temperatures.
- Utilize buffers and grinders to clean welds.
- Ensure welder(s) have required materials and tools available, such as rods and grinding discs.
- Maintain stock levels of materials and supplies.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Perform general clean up and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the work areas.
Qualifications/Skills:
- MUST BE LOCAL TO, OR WILLING TO RELOCATE, TO THE GRANDE PRAIRIE AREA (Fabrication shop located outside of Sexsmith)
- 6+ months work experience in a similar role
- Experience operating small power tools and hand tools
- Knowledge of all aspects of welding and various types of metals
- Basic English reading and writing skills
- Physically strong, agile and dexterous
- Able to work in a standing position for extended hours
- Available to work shifts and extended hours
Education, Certification and Licensing Requirements:
- Current apprenticeship with Alberta Industry preferred however, will consider suitable applicants that are willing to complete an apprenticeship.
- Must have a valid class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation
- At minimum, must possess current H2S Alive, Alberta Standard First Aid Level C and CSO tickets
