This is an exciting opportunity to join the Maternal, Child, and Family Health team as the Clinic Lead, where you will be supporting a dedicated team - including midwives - in delivering holistic and culturally grounded care. Rooted in a community-driven and Nation-based approach, this leadership role offers the chance to foster meaningful collaboration and partnership with families, communities, and care providers. With oversight of clinical operations and team development, you will help shape services that honour First Nations values, promote health equity, and contribute to the overall well-being of community.

Title: Clinic Lead, Maternal Child & Family Health (Internal Only) Salary: $99,899 - $117,528 - $135,158 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

Location: Port Hardy, BC, located on the ancestral territories of the Kwakiutl, Quatsino and Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw Nations – Onsite – Travel across the Vancouver Island Region is required.

About The Role As Clinic Lead, Maternal Child & Family Health, you will play a vital leadership role within an innovative and expanding team-based care environment, focused on delivering culturally safe, community-centered care for First Nations individuals and their families. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of clinic services, providing guidance to non-physician and non-nurse practitioner care providers. With a strong commitment to holistic wellness, you will help integrate both Western and traditional approaches to care, including mental health and substance use supports. As services continue to grow, you will bring creative, relational, and forward-thinking leadership to a dynamic clinical and operational team—helping shape the future of accessible, culturally grounded primary care.

About You To be successful in this role you will have/be –

Education and Occupational Certifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Social Work, Nursing, or other regulated health disciplines.
  • Current practicing registration and in good standing with a British Columbia regulating body.

Experience

  • 6–8 years of primary care experience, with a strong foundation in culturally safe and trauma-informed care.
  • Proven experience working with First Nations people and communities, with a deep understanding of culturally responsive practices.
  • Assets include experience in mental health and substance use care (including opioid crisis response), clinic operations (financial and HR management), and working with Electronic Medical Records and encounter coding systems.

Knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed care while balancing Western and Traditional Indigenous worldviews through a two-eyed seeing approach.
  • Familiarity with traditional healing practices, local First Nations customs, and the socio-historical context impacting Indigenous health in Canada.
  • Deep understanding of key frameworks such as the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (BC), Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, “In Plain Sight” report, and the MMIWG inquiry.
  • Strong commitment to critical self-reflection, with awareness of personal intersectionality, power, and privilege in practice.
  • Experience working in rural and remote communities, with an understanding of their unique challenges and barriers to care.
  • Knowledge of best practices and standards in Registered Nursing and advanced primary care, including clinical program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Technologically proficient, with a willingness to adopt new tools and a solid understanding of relevant legislation and health policy frameworks.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
