About the role
Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges—the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place.
Your Impact
MineSpans, a part of McKinsey’s global Metals and Mining practice, provides mining companies with the strategic business intelligence to support their market analysis and understanding of the metals and mining sector industry dynamics.
It combines advanced analytics, a comprehensive database of mining operations, and global mining expertise. MineSpans enables clients to assess and improve their views on costs, supply and demand across mining commodities like iron ore, copper, gold, EV-battery materials, steel, aluminum and others. You'll work with our MineSpans team in Toronto.
As a Metals & Mining Research Analyst at McKinsey, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our understanding of the mining sector and driving impactful insights. In this role, you will conduct in-depth research and develop analytical perspectives across a range of metals and mining commodities, while maintaining and enhancing a comprehensive database of global mining assets. Your contributions will extend to developing and sharing knowledge through the creation of insight packs, sector models, and client-ready materials. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with McKinsey consultants to deliver high-quality data and analysis that support client engagements. Beyond your analytical responsibilities, you will play an active role in capability-building by mentoring junior team members and coordinating targeted research efforts. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of data, strategy, and industry expertise, making a tangible impact in the dynamic world of metals and mining.
You’ll deepen your expertise in one of the world’s most critical sectors, while developing skills in market modeling, strategic analysis, and data-driven storytelling. You'll work closely with experts in Toronto and globally, gaining exposure to cutting-edge research and high-impact client work.
Your Growth
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues—at all levels—will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won’t find anywhere else.
