Power of Words Academy offers an after-school writing and public speaking enrichment program for students ages 7 to 14. Our programs run during the school year from September to June, with classes held once a week for 90 minutes. We focus on building exceptional writing skills, confidence in public speaking, and providing students with an edge that will set them apart from their peers. Our curriculum covers text comprehension, the writing process, effective communication, essay writing, and speechmaking. We aim to enrich both the personal and academic lives of our students, preparing them to be strong leaders.
Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role for a Teacher located in Greater Toronto Area, Canada. The Teacher will be responsible for conducting writing and public speaking classes, developing lesson plans and educational materials, assessing student progress, and providing constructive feedback. The Teacher will also need to create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters student growth and confidence.
Qualifications
- Experience in teaching writing and public speaking
- Strong understanding of text comprehension, essay writing, and speech elements
- Ability to develop lesson plans and educational materials
- Effective communication and public speaking skills
- Proven track record in assessing student progress and providing feedback
- Encouraging and positive attitude towards student learning and development
- Excellent organizational skills
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Communications, or related field
- Experience in an educational setting, preferably with children ages 7 to 14, is a plus

As your child progresses through the program, they will continue to build on the foundations of writing with a focus on different types of writing and will be encouraged to incorporate their personal style into their compositions. Specifically, your child will be proficient in writing descriptive, narrative, expository and persuasive essays and will have the expertise to write a powerful speech on any topic!
By the end of our program, your child will have the talent to write fantastic essays that will impress their teachers. In addition, with a public speaking focus incorporated into the program, our goal is to boost your child's self-esteem and confidence. Our Academy prepares your child to be a strong leader, enriching both their personal and academic life.
