The Opportunity Looking for a hands-on career where you work outdoors, learn new skills, and be part of a great team? McElhanney is hiring a Junior Survey Assistant to join our Calgary team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being outdoors, and enjoys hands-on work. No surveying experience is required - we’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed. As part of our team, you'll work on exciting projects in Calgary, including municipal infrastructure, construction, and legal surveys. Every day is different, and you'll gain valuable skills while working alongside experienced professionals. Please note: Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required, along with client-specific site access testing. Applicants must hold a valid Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent) and meet our insurer requirements, including a minimum of three years of driving experience. You will also need your own vehicle to get to site or meet up with your co-worker What You Can Expect Work in a team environment Learn from experienced survey professionals and build valuable technical skills Be part of a supportive team that values hard work, learning, and personal growth What You’ll Do Use tools and equipment to place stakes, marks, control points or to identify and expose utilities or survey monuments. Set-up and operate a range of survey equipment. Follow direction from the Survey Party Chief or Field Supervisor to support field crews and help complete daily tasks. Follow and participate in safety processes and procedures. What You’ll Bring High school diploma or equivalent. An interest in outdoor activities, sports, or working in outdoor environments. A willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather and site conditions. Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift equipment. Willingness to work 10-12 hours a day for extended periods. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and good communication skills. Reliability, strong work ethic, and able to work well as part of a team. What Can We Offer You? The wage range for this position is $19 - $22 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. Requirements
Candidates must have a high school diploma, a valid Class 5 driver's license with three years of experience, and their own vehicle. The role requires the ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work for 10-12 hours a day in various weather conditions.
