Senior Director, SAP Finance Transformation Location: Toronto, 4- days onsite (non-negotiable) Full-Time About the Opportunity Our client is embarking on a large-scale, multi-year finance modernization program to transform its global finance technology landscape. As part of this journey, legacy financial platforms and general ledger capabilities are being replaced with a modern SAP-based architecture, creating a greenfield Enterprise General Ledger environment supported by additional finance modules and integrations. The Senior Director, SAP Finance Transformation will own and lead the successful implementation of a cloud-based Product Subledger, Non-Product Subledger, and Enterprise General Ledger platform. Acting as the key bridge between technology leadership, finance stakeholders, enterprise architecture, and delivery teams, this individual will drive the end-to-end execution of the transformation while ensuring alignment to business, operational, regulatory, and technology objectives. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring a combination of deep SAP Finance implementation expertise, enterprise-scale transformation experience, and executive stakeholder management. Responsibilities Platform Execution Lead a greenfield SAP Product Subledger, Non-Product Subledger, and Enterprise General Ledger implementation across all workstreams. Drive enterprise-wide execution while ensuring adherence to target-state architecture and design principles. Partner with program leadership to establish delivery standards, methodologies, governance frameworks, and KPIs. Provide oversight of platform integration, technical delivery, data migration, and custom development activities. Serve as the functional authority for SAP Finance capabilities, ensuring designs support event-based accounting, subledger, and general ledger requirements. Define strategies for complex integrations and enterprise data flows. Establish and enforce SAP governance practices and design standards. Ensure scalability, performance, security, and operational readiness of the final solution. Leadership & Strategy Lead large, multidisciplinary global teams responsible for delivering strategic program outcomes. Act as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, providing guidance on technology direction, risk management, and implementation strategy. Drive alignment across finance, technology, operations, architecture, and program delivery teams. Manage delivery scope, priorities, dependencies, risks, and financials. Resolve complex delivery challenges while ensuring adherence to enterprise architecture standards. Promote collaboration and consistency across global workstreams. Provide thought leadership around finance technology modernization and SAP best practices. Talent Leadership Set direction, vision, and performance expectations for teams. Build and lead high-performing organizations focused on accountability, innovation, and collaboration. Mentor leaders and team members through large-scale transformational change. Assess organizational capabilities and align talent strategies with future-state operating models. Develop succession plans and leadership pipelines for critical roles. Required Qualifications Must-Haves 15+ years of SAP implementation experience, including leadership of large-scale Finance ERP transformations. Proven experience leading SAP General Ledger and broader Finance modernization programs within large enterprises. Deep expertise in General Ledger, Product Subledger, event-based accounting, and enterprise financial reporting processes. Demonstrated success delivering SAP Finance implementations from design through deployment and production support. Extensive experience overseeing SAP workstreams including solution design, configuration, integration, data migration, testing, and rollout. Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience leading large globally distributed teams through complex enterprise transformations. Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, SDLC, Agile delivery, security, and data governance principles. Bachelor's degree required; Business, Finance, Accounting, or Technology disciplines preferred. Preferred Experience within banking, financial services, or similarly complex regulated industries. Previous leadership experience within a Big Four consulting firm or major systems integrator. Experience delivering enterprise-scale SAP S/4HANA Finance transformations. What you’ll do

Lead the end-to-end implementation of a cloud-based SAP Finance architecture, including Product Subledger and Enterprise General Ledger. Act as the primary bridge between technology leadership and finance stakeholders to ensure alignment with operational and regulatory objectives.

Requirements

Requires over 15 years of SAP implementation experience with a proven track record of leading large-scale Finance ERP transformations. A bachelor's degree is required, with deep expertise in event-based accounting and executive-level communication skills.
