The Opportunity
RVS invites applications for the on-call, casual position of Support Substitute (Receptionist/Learning Commons Facilitator) for the 2026-2027 school year. Support substitutes are called to work on an as needed basis, at any of our schools.
You must be available to work throughout the 2026-2027 school year, be accessible by telephone and internet, and provide your own transportation. Interviews will be held in person or via Zoom on an as needed basis.
Successful candidates will posses

Outstanding interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills Ability to keep up-to-date with changing technology Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with a team of educational professionals Understanding of and commitment to supporting learning initiatives Ability to work with other staff members to create a positive, safe, and optimal learning environment Capacity to establish a rapport with students
Education/Experience
Receptionist
High school diploma
Office administration coursework considered an asset Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications
Learning Commons Facilitator
High school diploma
Diploma or undergraduate degree in Library Information Technology program, or related field considered an asset Previous office and library experience
Support Substitute Expectations
There is no minimum day availability required to be a support substitute (Receptionist/Learning Commons Facilitator) with Rocky View Schools There is no minimum geographical area required
Pre-employment Requirements
The successful candidate(s) must submit a current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment Proof of qualifications/education as required by the position. Applicants must provide a professional letter of reference, attached to the job application, from their most recent supervisor, relevant to the job opportunity, written on company letterhead, signed and dated within the past 18 months.
Support Substitutes are now eligible to access the supplemental benefits package at their own cost.
Salary: Paid at the first step of the Job Group you are working in (please refer to Terms of Employment on RVS website).
