What We Do The Corporate Development Team's key responsibility is to provide high quality business & strategy consulting and corporate development / M&A services for Fidelity Canada and to support the most senior stakeholders across the organization. This is achieved by establishing strong relationships with these client groups while meeting the needs and interest of all stakeholders. The team has a high profile within the firm, has earned its regard by the most senior stakeholders, and has a unique vantage point from which to lead strategic analyses and projects across the full breadth and reach of the firm. The team has frequent interaction with members of Fidelity Canada’s Senior Executive Team. The Manager, Corporate Development (Case Lead) is an experienced strategist and will operate as part of and lead various teams through working groups and steering committees on a variety of efforts. At times the Manager will be required to operate independently and to undertake any / all such work to ‘get the job done’. This role will be required to build strong partnerships with business leaders and colleagues by providing exceptional business consulting and business strategy support. With time, this role will manage a team of experienced corporate development professionals. This role will reside in the Finance & Corporate Services department, specifically on the Corporate Development team reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Development. The focus and nature of the individual’s work will vary over time, reflecting Fidelity Canada’s business strategy, priorities, and challenges. The role may also work with the Fidelity Business Consulting team at FIL for wider Fidelity International imperatives. The team’s human capital is considered ‘fungible’ and aligned to business priorities, needs and initiatives as they arise, akin to external consultancy firm models. What You Will Do Business Consulting - Provide high quality business consulting services and advice to senior-level stakeholders in region, to support achievement of Fidelity’s strategic objectives. Strategy Consulting - Contribute to and as required lead exercises to assess, develop, and execute winning strategies for businesses across Fidelity Canada. Corporate Development - Support Fidelity Canada in the sourcing, qualification, diligence, and execution of corporate development actions (e.g., mergers, acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, partnerships) within Canada. Competitor & Market Research - Generating insight from trends, disruptions, innovations, and challenges that may impact our industry, markets, clients, and business propositions, and using knowledge of Fidelity and of our corporate ecosystem to determine the likely impact and response Stakeholder Presentations and Discussions - Design, contribute to, and, as necessary, lead presentations, report out on progress, and guide discussions with working teams, Steering Committees, and Fidelity Canada’s executive team People & Team Management - Effectively manage internal teams to design and deliver against project objectives while empowering and developing individuals within the Corp. Dev. team What We’re Looking For 8+ years of work experience including 3+ years working in a strategy consulting, corporate development, or strategy & planning department Completion of University degree (concentration in Commerce, Economics, Accounting or related areas) or equivalent experience Financial Services industry experience is preferred, with a solid foundational understanding of the global asset and wealth management sector, including retail and workplace investing, competitive landscape, products / propositions, client segments and regulatory environment Additional formal business education, training, designations (e.g. MBA/CPA/CA/CMA/CGA) would be an asset Expertise You Will Bring Substantial experience deploying core strategy consulting skills; skilled problem-solver Experience with business strategy and innovation frameworks used in advising businesses seeking to implement new strategies Strong stakeholder management skills: confidence and ability to engage with and suitably challenge senior managers Very strong project management skills Ability to influence without authority Independent, curious, risk taker; can thrive in a fast-paced environment where business conditions and projects have tight deadlines and can continually change Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint High level of financial acumen Ability to build relationships across a variety of business functions and levels; demonstrable experience of navigating large, multi-disciplinary organizations Strong and demonstrated individual and team leadership capabilities Total Rewards That Reflect Your Impact We believe exceptional work deserves exceptional recognition. For this role, your total rewards include: Base Salary and Discretionary Performance Bonus: A competitive annual range of $158,000 to $188,000, based on your experience and qualifications.
