Position: Albreda Lodge Assistant Manager Type: Full Time, Seasonal Location: Albreda Lodge, Blue River, BC Reports to: Albreda Lodge Manager About Albreda Lodge Albreda Lodge is part of the Mike Wiegele family, offering world-class heli-skiing and mountain experiences in the heart of British Columbia. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional hospitality in a unique setting. Overview: The Albreda Lodge Assistant Manager is responsible for the workings of the Lodge in the absence of the Lodge Manager. The position has key responsibilities in the areas of Administration, Front Desk, Boutique, Maintenance and Operations Supervision. The Lodge Assistant, in conjunction with the Lodge Manager, is responsible for the quality, integrity and risk management in the Lodge. The Lodge Assistant must ensure communication flows interdepartmentally and nurture an effective team-based culture. Responsibilities: In-depth knowledge of our products, services, and guest base. Monitor guest satisfaction through personal interaction and through guest comment cards. Follow up to ensure concerns are addressed and corrected immediately. Responsible for daily operation of the Albreda Lodge in conjunction with the Lodge Manager. Daily communication is maintained, and lodge operational decisions are approached in a collaborative manner. Responsible for maximizing revenue opportunities in all possible revenue streams such as boutique sales, liquor wine & beer sales, and massage bookings. In the absence of the Lodge Manager, responsible for the daily operation of the dining room, housekeeping, maintenance, tech shop, boutique, front desk, and in cooperation with the Head Chef, the kitchen, and the guides, transportation, down day activities and daily routines. Work jointly with the Albreda Lodge Manager, providing support, coaching and mentorship to lodge staff. Assist guests with boutique purchases, massage bookings, liquor, wine & beer sales as needed. Rebooking guests for next year in conjunction with the Blue River Guest Relations department Listening to guests concerns and requests and taking action in an appropriate and timely manner. Duties as outlined by function in the addendum (sent separately for your review). Responsible for assisting the Albreda Lodge Manager with administrative functions including maintaining books and records, scheduling of staff, cost control, and maintaining supplies and inventory. Attend daily meetings with the Albreda Lodge Manager, to share pertinent information and arrive at collaborative decisions and action plans. With the Lodge Manager and Service Lead, attend and help conduct a weekly staff meeting to ensure communication flow, discuss and action current and upcoming equipment, operational, guest-oriented, product-oriented challenges, concerns, ideas and make actionable decisions as a team. Be fully aware of each lodge employee’s focus and facilitate their completion of tasks to ensure guest expectations are met. Transportation of guests and staff when required (class 4 license required), or arrangement thereof. Liaise with onsite guiding personnel to ensure guest satisfaction and safety objectives are maintained. Work with Lodge Manager, Service Lead, and all staff to record guest preferences for use and planning in following seasons. Work with the Lodge Manager and all staff to ensure the cleanliness, safety and security of all areas of the Lodge and property at the close of the Albreda season. Serving Duties: Moderately physical in nature. Carrying light to moderate loads, often hot. Preparing & setting the tables with appropriate presentation. Understanding our products (wine & food). Serving & clearing tables in a kind courteous fashion. Assisting with dish washing. Cleaning the dining and breakfast areas. Polishing glassware & cutlery. Working early morning & late evening. Serving it Right Certificate required. Housekeeping Duties: Moderately physical in nature. Exposure to cleaning industrial products. Carrying light to heavy loads. Washing linens. Cleaning bathrooms. Working under time constraints. Respecting guest space & property. Correct use and maintenance of housekeeping equipment and tools Boutique Duties: Responsible for retail sales in Boutique. Providing assistance to the Lodge Manager with some administrative boutique functions such as, placing of supply orders, receiving shipments, checking invoices against orders placed, keeping office in order, maintain records as requested by the Lodge Manager Maintain inventory in the Boutique. Discuss issues of profitability with the Lodge Manager and make recommendations. Keep the stock room clean, in order, folded, and organized. Close out Novidata/Moneris and submit cashout daily The Lodge Assistant will alternate in the retail shop with the Lodge Manager. We will have a strong retail presence; must know the products we sell in the shop. Must be dressed in sport casual wear in the morning while working retail. The dress code will reflect the merchandise in the boutique Front Desk and Administration Duties: Provide prompt acknowledgment, friendly welcome and efficient luggage movement at check in and check out. Ensure Waivers (liability release forms) are completed properly and witnessed. Responsible for helping with group check-ins: coordinating with Housekeeping the progress of room readiness. Ensure that guest-related housekeeping and maintenance problems are communicated to those areas for prompt attention. Keep Front Desk and Front Desk office neat, clean, and organized. Maintenance Duties: Moderately physical in nature. Exposure to cleaning industrial products; must wear appropriate PPE. Carrying light to heavy loads. Assisting the Lead Maintenance Employee with daily Lodge tasks and occasional projects as requested Use of common operating tools under the direction of and at the discretion of the Lead Maintenance Employee and the Albreda Manager Assisting with Ski Tech duties as requested and under the direction of the MWHS Guiding staff and Sports Shop Manager. Specific Maintenance and Sports Shop duties shared with the Maintenance Lead include: Daily maintenance activities performed and recorded on daily Maintenance Log reports. Address maintenance issues as they occur and as directed by Management. Regular maintenance of heating/cooling systems, refrigeration, freezers, hot tub, plumbing, septic field/sewer, kitchen appliances (stoves, burners, ovens), audio/internet, elevator, and back up LPG generator. Recognizes liabilities and risks in all facets of the resort operation, its guests and staff, and assists the Albreda Lodge Manager in risk prevention and emergency procedures training. Gain knowledge of the different systems in Albreda (electrical, mechanical, and plumbing) to ensure proper preventative and corrective maintenance. Understand and store all equipment manuals. Label and store all keys (at least one of each deposited in locked key box in safe) Ability to operate heavy equipment safely, efficiently, and responsibly for snow removal from streets, walkways, parking lot, and deck. Inventory and maintenance of all machinery, equipment, and vehicles. Keep firewood stocked. Maintain inventory and replacement of light bulbs (guestrooms only on Saturdays) Ski technician duties as required. Ensure all skis are serviced daily, up to an excellent standard. Daily repair of edges and ski bases. Edges are checked for burrs and ski bases for holes and scratches. General Duties: Have a thorough knowledge of our facilities, hours of operation, room types Be aware of special functions within the larger resort. Be resourceful as Lodge employees are an information source for guests. Ensure guest confidentiality. Evaluate guest needs and exceed guest expectations as much as possible. Strive to ensure effective communication and team work between all departments. Help ensure the functions of the departments are being maintained and the highest level of service is being provided for our guests. contribute to the guest log books with constructive notes for future stays. Be professional in everything you say and do. Be conscientious of the need for excellent working relations with all staff Be conscientious of the guest relation dynamics, friendly, helpful, and efficient. Address guests by name and always introduce yourself Attend weekly staff meetings and daily shift meetings Ensure safety measures in your area, and be aware of your role in the case of a power outage or emergency Attend the Saturday pre dinner guest greeting in the Great Room Hours will vary throughout the season and you will be expected to be flexible and available for work when necessary (ie: down days, spring hours) to ensure optimal guest service throughout the season. Requirements and Qualifications: Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Attention to detail and superior organizational skills. Integrity and leadership Guest oriented approach Experience and/or education in customer service. Experience with supervision and organizing work assignments. Excellent working knowledge of products and services, and company objectives. Working knowledge of computer applications and use (Microsoft Word & Excel, Property management systems, Micros, Microsoft Teams, Sonos). Must have a calm demeanor and strong social skills. Must be able to deal with complaints in a civil manner, with creative and appropriate solutions. Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of clients and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required. Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment. Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment. Must have great interpersonal relationships with your co-workers. Must treat co workers as internal guests, respect and appreciate the work that all do. Must be willing to work in all areas of the lodge, this includes taking out garbage, sweeping, mopping, clearing tables, washing dishes. Must be passionate about recreation, health, and exceptional guest service. Knowledge of workplace hazardous materials and WHMIS Certification (training provided). Serving it Right Certificate required (must have prior to start date). Willing to work a flexible schedule coinciding with work volumes. Applied skills in personal effectiveness, integrity, working with precision and accuracy, and decision-making. Attributes include strong interpersonal skills, efficient and precise work habits, self-motivated, persuasive and positive personal image. Professional appearance and demeanor. Must be responsible, prompt, and able to work independently. Attributes include energetic personality, people skills, and good grooming standards. Must be able to frequently bend and kneel, lift moderate weight, and work on feet for an extended period of time. Valid driver’s license required. Second language an asset (German, French, Spanish preferred). Working Conditions: 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, daily rate includes overtime as per Employment Standards Occasional environmental exposures to cold weather heat and water. Must be able to transport up to 50 lbs on occasion and up to 35 lbs regularly. Work both indoors and outdoors. Able to work long hours. Ability to work independently and/or in a team when required. Willingness to live in a semi-isolated environment for contract period.
