About the role
Your Opportunity:
Reporting to Manager, Furnishings & Equipment, Capital Projects the Team Lead manages a large portfolio of F&E projects and a team of Healthcare Equipment Specialists, Healthcare Furnishings Specialists and F&E Project Coordinators. The Team Lead has financial accountability and direct functional supervision responsibility for the Project Teams who are accountable to ensure multiple, concurrent Alberta Infrastructure led Major Capital Projects or AHS Project Management led Minor Capital Projects and Provincial Initiatives are successfully implemented. This positively impacts the strategic health infrastructure and operational outcomes of new, expanded or renovated AHS facilities or clinical services. The Team Lead delivers solutions to multiple complex challenges and plays a key role in communication to advance F&E services across the province and to facilitate strategic alliances with Alberta Infrastructure, Alberta Health, AHS Facilities and other Capital Management service areas. This is a supervisory, people mgmt. & risk mgmt. role.
Description:
The Team Lead provides day to day leadership and supervision, providing direction to their team, assigning workload to ensure healthcare projects are delivered on time, on budget, and with an eye to evolving healthcare technology, infection prevention and control standards, clinical best practices, dept. standard procedures & end user work flow. The Team Lead is accountable for financial mgmt. including the development, maintenance, procurement oversight and approvals, and reporting on project budgets and financials to F&E Management, Directors, Senior Project Managers and Project Managers both within HSS, Alberta Infrastructure (AI), 4 health ministries, PHA/PHC’s, and Philanthropic Foundations throughout the project life cycle. On average, each Team Lead is typically accountable for more than one-hundred million dollars in Capital Project budget, at any given time.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Engineering, Health Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, or other management related field and applicable healthcare experience is required. On-the-job experience as a Project Manager, Charge Nurse / Head Nurse, Engineer, Superintendent or similar leadership role is required. A proven track record with 10 or more years of experience supervising multiple staff in a healthcare or complex project management team environment is required. This position is required to travel to healthcare projects throughout the province. Safety training is required to access construction sites, as well as approved personal protective equipment (PPE). Possession of a valid driver’s license & access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required. Some working knowledge and understanding of health facility construction is required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with work experience from Canadian Acute Care Hospitals. A project management background & PMP designation is highly desirable. The successful candidate must:
Perform effectively in a high pressure, project-based work environment with frequent workload changes and competing demands / deadlines Assign and Monitor work according to set procedures Perform with frequent interruptions and/or distractions Adapt to frequent changes in workload, adjust priorities quickly and direct people Set priorities and prioritize assignments which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and project deliverables to complete heavy workload within established time frames Ensure staff follow through on assignments, maintain quality assurance, mitigate and resolve conflicts. Applicants who demonstrate ability to ensure team aligns to SOPs, MS Excel pivot table skills (preferred). Preferred Qualifications: Ability to motivate a team w/out compromising Mgmt. direction, comfortable working in high pressure, dynamic environment, strong critical thinking skills, welcome social interaction w/ colleagues, travel throughout the province incl. overnight for project deliverables, teambuilding, staff meetings and other day to day activities is req'd including winter driving condition in rental cars
