Human Resources Generalist II
About the role
The Human Resources Generalist II supports the Burnaby Operations organization by implementing and administering human resources programs, policies and practices. This role provides day-to-day HR support to operational leaders and employees across production, warehouse and related site operations in a non-union manufacturing environment.
The position partners closely with Operations leadership to support employee relations, onboarding, attendance and accommodation management, performance and development, employee engagement, HR reporting and compliance. The role is based at Rheem’s Burnaby, British Columbia site.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary day-to-day HR partner for assigned Operations leaders and employees, providing practical guidance on policies, procedures, workplace standards and people-management matters. Support employee relations matters, including employee concerns, workplace conflict, attendance issues, performance concerns, respectful workplace complaints and investigations; escalate complex or high-risk matters as appropriate. Coach supervisors and managers on consistent documentation, corrective action, performance improvement and application of company policies. Support attendance management by monitoring planned and unplanned absence trends, maintaining accurate records, identifying recurring issues and partnering with Operations leaders on corrective and preventive action plans. Coordinate workplace accommodations, medical leaves and return-to-work processes in partnership with employees, leaders, benefits providers and other stakeholders, while maintaining confidentiality and appropriate documentation. Support onboarding and orientation for new Operations employees in partnership with Operations leaders, including probationary review and integration planning. Partner with Rheem’s Talent Acquisition Centre of Excellence and Operations leaders to support recruitment and selection for Operations roles by providing site context, workforce requirements and hiring-manager coordination. Support annual performance management, goal setting, merit and talent processes for the Operations organization, including manager guidance, data validation and completion tracking. Support the Operations components of the site people scorecard, including employee engagement and attendance metrics; analyze trends, prepare reports and partner with leaders on measurable action plans. Administer HR programs and employee lifecycle transactions, including transfers, promotions, leaves and terminations, ensuring timely and accurate HRIS records and documentation. Respond to employee questions regarding benefits, compensation, policies and HR programs, and partner with Rheem Centres of Excellence or service teams when specialized support is required. Partner with Rheem’s Learning and Development Centre of Excellence and Operations leaders to identify capability needs, coordinate learning and development initiatives, and support completion and application of required training. Maintain compliance with applicable British Columbia and Canadian employment requirements, including employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, privacy and related legislation. Partner with Operations and Environmental, Health and Safety teams on people-related aspects of workplace safety, incident follow-up, modified work and continuous improvement initiatives. Compile and analyze HR data and reports, identify root causes and recommend practical improvements to HR processes, leader practices and employee experience. Work collaboratively within Rheem’s matrixed HR environment, including close partnership with Centres of Excellence, while independently managing projects and priorities within assigned scope under the guidance of site leadership.

Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. 3+ years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience, including direct support to managers and employees. Demonstrated experience in employee relations, performance management, attendance management and HR program administration. Working knowledge of British Columbia employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, privacy and related employment requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with sound judgment, attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially. Demonstrated ability to build credibility with front-line employees, supervisors and senior leaders and to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple employee matters and projects concurrently. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and experience maintaining accurate records in an HR information system. Ability to work on site and maintain regular visibility within the Operations environment, with occasional schedule flexibility to support operational needs.
How to Stand Out
Experience supporting employees and leaders in a manufacturing, warehouse, distribution or other operational environment. Active progress toward CPHR. Experience conducting workplace investigations and supporting disability management, accommodations and return-to-work processes. Experience using HR metrics, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement methods to improve attendance, engagement or workforce processes. Experience working with enterprise HR systems and partnering with cross-functional Centres of Excellence in a multi-site organization.
The pay scale for this position $83,996.74 - $92,396.41. Please note all pay ranges are broadly stated and any final offer is dependent on factors such as location, direct experience, market guidance and internal equity, among other qualifying criteria.
