Role Description The Lead Stair Builder at Crestwood Stair is a full-time, on-site role based in London, ON. This role is responsible for leading the construction, and finishing of custom stair systems and related woodwork, ensuring precision, structural integrity, and a high standard of craftsmanship. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting drawings and specifications, measuring and cutting materials, assembling and framing stair components, and performing detailed finish carpentry. The Lead Stair Builder oversees the use of hand tools and power tools, guides other team members, and ensures that all work complies with safety standards and project timelines. Collaboration with installation crews is expected to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in Carpentry, including advanced stair construction and custom woodwork. Proficiency with Power Tools such as saws, drills, sanders, and routers used in stair fabrication and installation. Experience with Framing for stair structures and related architectural elements. Skilled use of Hand Tools for precise measuring, cutting, fitting, and finishing tasks.
Advanced Finish Carpentry skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety practices. Several years of experience as a Master Carpenter or equivalent senior carpentry role, preferably in stair or millwork environments. Physical ability to lift materials, work at various heights, and perform hands-on tasks throughout the day. Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with a team on-site in London, ON.
Starting at $35-40/hour, with higher compensation available for candidates with extensive custom stair or architectural millwork experience.
