Rate of Pay: $33.69/hour (Education Assistant) $34.59/hour (Early Childhood Educator)**
**EDUCATION ASSISTANT **
**Duties & Responsibilities: **
Under the direction of the Principal(s) and the general supervision of the Classroom Teacher(s), provides assistance to students who have physical disabilities, chronic health diagnoses, intellectual disabilities and/or social, emotional and behavioural needs as designated by the Director of Instruction, while supporting the achievement of stated programs goals and objectives. Supervision of a designated area either inside or outside the school, before, during and/or after school as defined by the terms of the assignment.
This position will require the successful applicant to deliver a higher level of care.
**Qualifications: **
Completion of Grade 12 plus a special program and over six (6) months up to and including one (1) year's related experience. A special program would be the Capilano University Education Assistant Program. Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License. Knowledge of basic First Aid. Basic knowledge of related learning tools (ie. computers, etc).
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR _

****Duties & Responsibilities: ****

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Instruction or designate, the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) leads before or after school care and works in partnership with the Kindergarten teacher in the classroom. Knowledge of early childhood education is essential to this position.
- Assists in providing a classroom environment that fosters the seamless transition between before/after school care and the kindergarten/primary classroom.
- Works independently to plan, coordinate and lead a quality before/after school care program for students.
- Establishes positive working relationships with school staff, community partners, families, and children.
- Supports the transition of information between children, families, and staff.
- Works independently to plan, coordinates and leads a quality licensed school-age group child care program for early primary students.
- Supports and collaborates with staff to create a seamless transition for children moving between the child care program and the school day.
- Supports the classroom teacher to maintain a learning environment that promotes the health, security and well-being of children.
- Supports budget preparation and purchase and maintenance of supplies and materials.
- Attends meetings as requested.
- Maintains statistics and creates child care reports.
- Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information seen or heard.
- Understands and acts in accordance with relevant policies and procedures from the school, district, Ministry of Education, Child Care Licensing Regulation, and WorkSafeBC.
- Completes ongoing professional development and maintains ECE Certificate to Practice
- Establishes positive working relationships with community partners and school staff.
- Uses verbal and written communication to interact with parents and/or caregivers and school personnel.
- Maintains the equipment, supplies and materials.
- Performs other Job related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications: **_

- Completed Post-Secondary Certificate or Diploma as an Early Childhood Educator. Preference given to those with a degree.
- Knowledge of Truth and Reconciliation and its application in Early Years settings and a commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.
- Valid Childsafe first aid certificate
- Clear criminal record check and up to date Immunizations as required by the Child Care Licensing Regulation
- Current Early Childhood Educator's Certificate to Practice from the BC government's ECE Registry.
- A minimum of 2 years of recent experience within a licensed child care setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the British Columbia Early Learning Framework and the Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Framework
- Experience creating, organizing, planning and implementing an early learning program
- Demonstrated evidence of strong communication skills (verbal, written and electronic formats) and ability to work as part of a team with colleagues, parents and children.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, ability to work with minimal supervision
- Membership with the Early Childhood Educators of BC
