About Us
Encorp Pacific (Canada), better known as Return-It, is a British Columbia based federally incorporated, not-for-profit, product stewardship corporation with beverage container management as our core business. Our mandate is to develop, manage and improve systems to recover used beverage containers and end-of-life products from consumers and ensure that they are properly recycled and not land-filled or incinerated. Encorp's evolving collection network consists of 180+ Return-It collection locations across BC.
Job Overview
Encorp is seeking a highly responsible and hands-on Return-It Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of a Return-It collection facility. The Supervisor is accountable for overall depot performance, staff leadership, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
Reporting to the Senior Director - Plant Operations and Logistics, this role requires strong leadership, decision-making, and operational management skills. The successful candidate will ensure the depot operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all company policies while fostering a positive, customer-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Leadership

Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Return-It depot, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with program guidelines.

Act as the on-site leader responsible for all operational decisions during business hours.

Lead, schedule, and supervise staff to ensure appropriate coverage and productivity.

Ensure accurate counting and processing of beverage container returns through various technologies and automated sorting systems.

Oversee cash handling procedures, including deposit return transactions and daily reconciliation using the point-of-return (POR) system.

Prepare and submit end-of-day financial reports and escalate discrepancies as required.

Monitor container volumes, storage capacity, and site flow; coordinate logistics and pickups with transporters.

Identify operational challenges and implement or recommend process improvements.

Ensure full compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Customer Experience

Ensure delivery of a consistently high standard of customer service.

Handle and resolve escalated customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally.

Promote awareness of recycling programs and environmental benefits.

Ensure team members provide accurate, clear, and consistent information to customers.
Health, Safety & Compliance
-
Take ownership of health and safety at the depot, ensuring all protocols and procedures are followed.

Conduct regular safety checks and proactively identify and address hazards.

Ensure all staff are trained and compliant with safety standards and workplace requirements.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for employees and customers.
Equipment & Facility Oversight

Oversee operation and maintenance of equipment.

Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed and documented.

Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues; coordinate with technical support and escalate as needed.

Ensure safe and proper use of pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment.
Team Leadership & Development

Provide ongoing coaching, training, development and performance feedback to staff.

Collaborate with Corporate HR on staffing decisions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations, ensuring alignment with company policies and employment standards.

Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture.

Address performance issues and escalate to the Area Manager as appropriate.
Reporting & Communication

Report on depot performance, issues, and key metrics to the Area Manager.

Maintain clear and timely communication regarding operational challenges, staffing, and compliance.

Support implementation of company initiatives and programs at the depot level.

Duties and responsibilities may evolve based on business needs.
Qualifications
-
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and hold staff accountable.

Excellent organizational and time-management abilities in a fast-paced environment.

Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills with a hands-on approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in financial handling and reporting.

Customer-focused mindset with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally.

Working knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.

Mechanical aptitude or ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues is an asset.

Proficiency with basic computer systems, POS/POR systems, and reporting tools.
Education & Experience
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
-
Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in retail, recycling, logistics, or operations environments.

Experience handling cash, financial reconciliation, and reporting is preferred.
-
Experience working with automated equipment or machinery is an asset.
-
Familiarity with recycling programs, depot operations, or environmental services is considered an asset.

Occupational First Aid certification and/or safety training (e.g., WHMIS) is an asset or willingness to obtain.
Work Schedule
-
40 hours a week
-
Tuesday - Saturday 10am – 5pm
Compensation
-
$48,000 - $52,000 annually
