Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance, the Lead, Supply Quality Engineer will oversee and enhance our product quality processes. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of quality assurance, testing methodologies, and process improvement, with the ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of products through rigorous testing, process control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Direct Accountabilities
- Lead and mentor a team of quality engineers to ensure effective execution of quality assurance processes.
- Provide guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities to team members.
- Coordinate quality-related activities across cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and implement quality strategies, plans, and standards in line with product requirements and industry best practices.
- Establish and monitor key quality metrics to measure product performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with product management, development, and operations teams to define quality requirements and deliverables.
- Oversee the creation and execution of detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts for new and existing products.
- Ensure that testing is thorough, covering functional, performance, and usability aspects.
- Conduct root cause analysis and failure investigations, working closely with development teams to resolve issues.
- Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency gains.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality protocols.
- Manage risk assessments and support quality audits to ensure adherence to quality systems and processes.
- Develop and maintain quality documentation and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide regular status updates to senior management on quality metrics, trends, and project progress.
- Lead post-mortem reviews on major quality issues to identify lessons learned and preventive actions.
- Act as a key liaison between quality and other departments to ensure smooth communication and successful project delivery.
Education Required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience, skills, and attitude
- 2 years of experience in quality engineering or a related role
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, software testing life cycle, and quality standards (e.g., ISO, Six Sigma).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Working Conditions
- Maintain strict adherence to De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) Health & Safety Policies.
- Work in various environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, confined spaces, heights, and around chemicals.
- Must be able to climb, stand, kneel, lift (up to 50 pounds), push, pull, bend, reach, carry, walk, crawl, balance, and use stairs.
- Must be able to work shift rotations including weekends and/or night shifts, on-call or overtime as occasionally required.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for workplace safety.
- Ensure the ability to maintain a positive fit test when mask use is necessary.
