Calgary Stampede Foundation
The Calgary Stampede Foundation provides young people with opportunities to discover and pursue their passions through programs like The Young Canadians School of Performing Arts, Calgary Stampede Showband, Band of Outriders and Calgary Stampede Showriders. These programs teach valuable skills and allow the opportunity to perform around the world. The Stampede’s state-of-the-art Youth Campus offers best practice learning, training, and performing facilities for these programs.
Position Summary
The Youth Performance Assistant supports the administrative and operational needs of the Youth Performance Team. This role contributes to youth arts programming through marketing, promotions, recruitment support, and coordination of activities on and off Stampede Park. The position also assists the marching band recruitment team with strategies, presentations, and promotional materials.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Provide administrative support for the Stampede Showband, Stampede Showriders, Young Canadians, and Stampede Campus.
- Support recruitment efforts and auditions.
- Assist with general office administration and team needs.
- Prepare materials and communications for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide event support for special projects, performances, and July Stampede activities.
- Assist with Youth Campus operations, including bookings, setup, and activities.
- Support start‑up activities for the new program season.
- Complete additional administrative tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:
- Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
This position is partially funded by the Government of Canada under the Canada Summer Jobs program. To qualify, participants must be:
(a) between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
(b) a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
(c) legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
- International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
Working Conditions:
- Various locations, indoors and outdoors, on Stampede Park and the community.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling up to 40 lbs.
- Minimal exposure to dust, fumes, gases, odours and animal dander.
