Please Note, this position is located in Calgary, AB, Canada Job Summary The Mechanical Systems Technician – Final Assembly Line (FAL) is responsible for the installation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of aircraft mechanical systems during final assembly. This role ensures that all hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, environmental control, and landing gear systems are installed and functionally verified in accordance with engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, and production schedules. The technician works from detailed engineering drawings, technical manuals, and process specifications to complete complex system installations and supports system validation, defect resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives within the FAL environment. Direct Accountabilities · Install and integrate aircraft mechanical systems including hydraulic, fuel, environmental control, landing gear, and associated components on the final assembly line · Interpret and execute work based on engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation · Perform functional testing, system checks, and troubleshooting of installed mechanical systems · Identify, diagnose, and resolve installation and system discrepancies in collaboration with engineering and quality teams · Utilize specialized tooling and testing equipment to verify system integrity and performance · Complete required documentation, including work orders, inspection records, and non-conformance reports · Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines · Support production targets while maintaining high levels of workmanship and attention to detail Indirect Accountabilities Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality assurance, and production planning Support continuous improvement initiatives related to build efficiency, quality, and safety Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians and new hires Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment Assist in resolving production bottlenecks and escalating technical issues as required Education Required Diploma or certification in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field Completion of accredited technical training in aerospace manufacturing or aircraft systems installation Equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in aircraft mechanical systems may be considered Experience, skills, and attitude required · 5+ years of experience in aircraft assembly on a final line, maintenance, or mechanical systems installation within an aerospace environment · Strong knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel, landing gear, ECS) · Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals · Experience performing system testing, troubleshooting, and defect resolution · Proficiency with aerospace tooling, torque procedures, and installation standards · Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety · Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment · Effective communication and problem-solving skills · Positive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset Working Conditions · Maintain strict adherence to De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) Health & Safety Policies. · Work in various environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, confined spaces, heights, and around chemicals. · Must be able to climb, stand, kneel, lift (up to 50 pounds), push, pull, bend, reach, carry, walk, crawl, balance, and use stairs. · Must be able to work shift rotations including weekends and/or night shifts, on-call or overtime as occasionally required. · Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for workplace safety. · Ensure the ability to maintain a positive fit test when mask use is necessary. · Commit to Health & Safety Excellence to protect employees, customers, shareholders, and the public. · For further information regarding a full list of working conditions, refer to the Job Demands Analysis.
