Description
The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Arts invites applications for a Research Assistant position. This Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to Dr. Ami Tint. This position will assist with several studies focused on neurodivergence and mental health. Workdays may vary in length and may occasionally include evening and weekend hours to facilitate data collection. This role will require work under direct supervision of the PI and will work collaboratively with the research team.
The research assistant will assist with multiple investigator-initiated research studies. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): assisting with the preparation and maintenance of ethics and institutional approvals; participant recruitment; data collection, entry and analysis; and general administrative support.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Supports research studies, which may include participant recruitment, data collection, entry, cleaning, scoring, and analysis. Assists with ethics submissions and communicating with the Research Ethics Board and other regulatory bodies, as required. Assists with lab communications, including preparing information for newsletters, webpages, social media, media requests, and community organizations. Provides general administrative support including scheduling meetings and events, coordinating conferences and seminars, making travel arrangements, maintaining calendars, and preparing meeting notes and memos.
Qualifications / Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Health Sciences or a related field. Minimum 1 year experience working in a lab conducting psychology or related research. Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, database software packages, and design platforms (e.g., Canva). Experience with data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, NVivo) and online data collection (Qualtrics) is an asset. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as a member of diverse, multidisciplinary teams. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be professional, and have good interpersonal skills for liaising with representatives from partner organizations. Due to a continually evolving workflow, the successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to take initiative.
