About the role
Are you highly organised, detail-oriented and passionate about supporting senior leaders and strong governance practices? As our Governance Assistant, you'll play a pivotal role at the heart of Unitywater's Legal and Governance Branch, providing trusted support to the General Counsel & Company Secretary (GCCS) and the Unitywater Board.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely with executive leaders, Board members and key stakeholders across the organisation, ensuring the seamless coordination of Board and Committee activities, maintaining rigour to the methodical process, high governance standards and contributing to the effective operation of one of Unitywater's important functions. In this role, you'll
Provide trusted support to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, maintain the methodical rhythm of Board and Committee meetings, managing priorities, communications and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion. Coordinate Board and Committee operations, ensuring papers, agendas, reports and meeting logistics are delivered accurately, professionally and on schedule. Maintain exceptional governance standards, supporting decision registers, action tracking, records management and governance documentation across the Board and Committees. Build strong relationships across the organisation, acting as a key point of contact for executives, Board members and internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to the smooth running of the Legal and Governance Branch, supporting legal administration, governance processes and continuous improvement activities that help the business operate effectively.

Must have
Experience providing high-level executive, governance or administrative support within a professional and fast-paced environment. A methodical organised approach to work. Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work autonomously with a high degree of initiative. Outstanding attention to detail, including experience proofreading, formatting and preparing high-quality reports, board papers, correspondence and documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally and build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated professionalism, discretion and sound judgement when handling confidential and sensitive information. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, research information and support effective outcomes. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams, together with experience using document management or collaboration systems.
Nice to have
Qualifications and/or experience as an Executive Assistant, Governance Assistant, Board Administrator or in a senior administrative support role. Experience supporting Boards, Committees or Executive Leadership Teams, including meeting coordination, agenda preparation, minutes and action tracking. Experience using governance platforms such as Convene or similar board management systems. Familiarity with public sector governance, legal services or company secretariat functions. Understanding of accounting, procurement or financial administration processes.
