The Opportunity
Our Environmental Spill Response division is seeking an Environmental Consultant/Spill Responder based in the Edmonton area.
This role is primarily field-based (70–80%) and involves travel throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, and northeastern British Columbia. Flexibility is required, including the ability to respond to emergency incidents on short notice and work variable hours.
Key Responsibilities

Provide emergency spill response, including coordination of contractors, containment, recovery, and site assessment

Conduct soil and water sampling, data collection, and field documentation

Prepare daily reports and contribute to technical reporting

Communicate field observations and project updates to supervisors and team members

Maintain accurate project documentation and file management

Support project objectives, including technical and financial goals

Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations
Qualifications
-
Degree or diploma in Environmental Science or a related discipline

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Experience working in a safety-focused environment

Professional designation (or eligibility) such as Biologist, Agrologist, Forester, Geoscientist, Chemist, Engineer, or Technologist is an asset

Relevant safety certifications (e.g., H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance Level II, First Aid, CSTS, CSO, Bear Awareness) are considered an asset

Additional training in Incident Command System (ICS), spill response, emergency management, or related areas is an asset
Skills & Competencies

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Organized with strong attention to detail

Comfortable working outdoors in remote environments

Basic knowledge of environmental regulations (or willingness to learn)

Experience with environmental data interpretation is an asset

Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Compensation
Compensation is based on an hourly rate, with opportunities for overtime. Employees in this role typically work additional hours beyond their regular schedule. Detailed compensation information will be discussed during the interview process.
