MacEwan University is seeking a Curriculum Planning Coordinator for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Curriculum Planning Coordinator is responsible for providing effective support for curriculum-related activities of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications (FFAC). Providing curriculum-related analysis and support in response to the Associate Deans and Chairs of FFAC, this position supports development, revision, or deactivation of courses and/or programs of study as directed, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures and ensuring appropriate workflow, timelines, and processes are met.
Key responsibilities include
Working in collaboration with the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) to ensure FFAC processes and practices comply with, and complement, institutional processes, rules, guidelines and practices; Ensuring internal approval processes and protocols are understood and followed according to policy and established governance procedures; Coordinating the regular review of admission criteria for all FFAC and Department programs and liaising with Faculty Governance Administrator(s) to coordinate approval of any related updates or changes through the Admissions and Selections Committee; Supporting proposal development for new programming and comprehensive reviews of existing and proposed curriculum by working with relevant stakeholders to collect and coordinate data, information and other content; Supporting and providing guidance to faculty in the use of the CIM system and how it translates to any relevant modules within PeopleSoft; Maintaining relationships and building beneficial linkages with internal stakeholders, including department Chairs, the OUR, and staff involved in curriculum planning/coordination at different levels throughout the institution; and In support of the Associate Dean and Chairs, organizing and scheduling curriculum development meetings, focus groups, and workshops with internal and external groups to support curriculum development processes.
Skills
You will have
Strong communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal) skills; Sound judgment, diplomacy, and the ability to foster and maintain positive, collegial relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; The ability to exercise initiative, work independently, and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision; Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills; A demonstrated ability to problem-solve, assess situations, apply good judgment and discretion, and handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner; Proficiency using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Google suite of applications; and The ability to gather, analyze, integrate, and summarize varied materials to provide accurate, complete, and current information and advice to faculty and other staff.
Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field. A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible and diversified related experience; exposure to curriculum planning and coordination work considered an asset. Direct experience in a post-secondary or related public sector environment is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
