Job Type: Full Time, Seasonal
Schedule: 10+ hours per day, 6 & 1, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/week Perks: Benefits, RRSP/TFSA Matching Location: Edmonton, and surrounding areas. No direct access to public transportation. Essential: Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditions Requirements: Personal Reliable Vehicle CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support Clean Driver’s Abstract, Valid Driver’s License Pre-employment: Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test) Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation Superintendent Responsibilities: Plan and coordinate construction operations with the ability to utilize available equipment while maintaining a schedule and completing critical tasks. Supervise the foreman’s daily activities; ensuring their crews tasks are performed efficiently. Ensuring all safety practice and procedures are followed by generating site-specific safety protocols. Read and interpret construction plans and blueprints. Coordinating and managing scheduling conflicts between sub-contractors. Maintaining records of daily construction activities, including worker timesheets, daily progress reports and safety documentation. Maintaining positive and professional relationships with external stakeholders. Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations. Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture. Superintendent Qualifications
10 or more year’s combined field experience in Civil Construction (earthworks and/or underground utilities) with a minimum of 5 years as a superintendent in heavy civil construction. Effective leadership skills with a strong focus on operations and business processes. Ability to plan and manage to a project schedule. Ability to anticipate stakeholder needs, investigate the underlying causes and identify short/long term solutions. Sureway Construction Group is an equal opportunity employer.
