Role Description The Structural Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Delta, BC. This position is responsible for performing structural analysis and design for metal components, connections, and assemblies used in bridges, buildings, and architectural structures. Day-to-day tasks include preparing engineering calculations, reviewing and interpreting drawings, collaborating with drafting teams, and ensuring designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client specifications. The Structural Engineer will work closely with project managers, fabricators, and installation teams to resolve technical issues, support production planning, and provide engineering input during design and construction phases. The role also involves participating in design optimization, reviewing shop and erection drawings, and contributing to continuous improvement of engineering processes and quality.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Structural Engineering and Civil Engineering for the design of metal structures and connections. Candidates should possess advanced abilities in Structural Analysis and Calculations to ensure safety, compliance, and performance of designed components. Candidates should possess proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for reviewing, modifying, and coordinating detailed engineering and fabrication drawings. Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or related field) and eligibility for professional engineering registration (e.g., P.Eng. or equivalent). Additional beneficial skills include knowledge of steel design codes, experience with bridge or industrial structures, familiarity with fabrication and erection practices, and strong communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to work on-site in a fabrication environment, manage multiple projects, and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced setting.
