Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Work Mode: Hybrid (Onsite Required) Employment Type: Contract Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior AS400 RPGLE Developer to join our team in Halifax, Canada. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in IBM i (AS400), RPGLE, CLLE, ILE concepts, and Free Format RPG with a proven track record of designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise applications. This role requires hands-on development experience, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work collaboratively throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Key Responsibilities Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform. Develop and support applications using RPGLE, ILE RPG, CLLE, and Free Format RPG. Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support. Write efficient SQL queries and optimize database interactions. Perform code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. Execute unit testing and support integration testing activities. Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolutions. Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Prepare and maintain technical documentation. Required Skills & Qualifications 6+ years of hands-on experience with RPGLE, CLLE, ILE RPG, and Free Format RPG development. 6+ years of experience developing and maintaining applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform. Strong understanding of ILE concepts and application architecture. Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries. Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Experience conducting code reviews and unit testing. Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in enterprise production support environments. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies. Experience with performance tuning and application optimization on IBM i. Prior experience working with large-scale enterprise applications.
