About the role
The New Account Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end processing of new account openings, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with regulatory and internal requirements. This role specializes in resolving complex and incomplete applications, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure efficient and accurate account setup for new and existing clients. Highly customer- and Advisor-focused, the New Account Specialist is committed to delivering a seamless onboarding experience. By collaborating with Advisors, customers, and internal stakeholders, the role ensures timely account opening, resolves outstanding documentation requirements, managing complex applications, and applying sound risk-based decision-making to support quality and compliance. Position Responsibilities Review and process new account applications across deposit and loan products Identify missing or incorrect documentation and follow up to ensure completeness and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements Partner with key stakeholders to complete account openings by meeting all required criteria Maintain high quality and accuracy in all account setups Meet established service level agreements (SLAs) Escalate issues or risks as needed to support timely resolution Execute enhanced due diligence for higher-risk clients and accounts Exercise sound judgment and risk-based decision-making in the best interest of the client and the business Required Qualifications Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a solution-oriented mindset Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec. Strong communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrates a strong collaborative, team-oriented mindset Ability to effectively prioritize and manage workload independently and as part of a team Ability to learn and adapt to new processes and systems in a changing environment Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities Demonstrated critical thinking skills with the initiative to investigate and resolve issues Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field Experience with financial products or banking operations is an asset Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to account opening is an asset The role being advertised is an existing vacancy. Referenced Salary Location Waterloo, Ontario Working Arrangement Hybrid Salary range is expected to be between $43,875.00 CAD - $73,125.00 CAD Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
