About the role
Job Description
The Quality Specialist is focused on inspection requests received from production. They will perform quality checks on the information, attach any relevant documentation required and forward to all parties. The Quality Specialist will also record inspection results provided by the QC Inspectors in the power app. The Quality Specialist will assist in tracking deficiencies from inspections and job pack closure. The Quality Specialist will help create Inspection reports and turnover documentation to be submitted to Canada. This role will also act as the super user for processes and procedures related to Ship Repair.
Responsibilities
Perform quality checks on incoming inspection requests, attaching documentation, and forwarding to all parties. Record inspection results provided by the Quality Control Inspectors in the power app and track deficiencies. Support Quality Assurance as a super user for Quality Control in Ship Repair. Create, update and maintain metrics as well as create reports to submit to Canada and other departments. Create inspection reports to be submitted to Canada.
Qualifications
Community College Diploma or equivalent required. 2 to 5 years of quality experience in a similar role. Shipbuilding knowledge and experience considered an asset. Experience in Document Control and SharePoint considered an asset. Solve problems and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills required, and relationship management skills required. Use specialized software for collection of inspection reports and metrics. Experience in Microsoft Suite required.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
