YOUR DAY TO DAY:
We are expanding our digital manufacturing capability and are seeking a Digital Manufacturing Engineer to join our Engineering team. This role will be a key contributor, developing, implementing, and supporting software solutions that drive digital transformation across manufacturing and operations. You will collaborate with others to gain understanding of the business needs, existing methods and tools to create foundational digital factory tools. Success is built on the strong communication skills and the ability to identify, adapt and proficiently work through the digitization projects in a scrum style approach.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
Collaboration, Leadership & Governance
- Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, engineering, and IT teams to define system requirements and develop software solutions that improve operational processes.
- Be a team partner who works seamlessly with the development team.
- Contribute to project planning, technical discussions, and provide agile/scrum style project status updates.
- Initiate and own process / technical reviews and requirements, gathering key knowledge to architect and execute successfully.
- Work across-functional teams to evaluate new technologies opportunities to improve application capabilities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and IT teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and accessibility across digital manufacturing systems.
- Ensure data consistency and synchronization between enterprise and shop-floor systems.
- Sustain and troubleshoot complex application issues within the factory and drive continuous improvement.
- Participate in reviews on design, development, testing, and deployment of manufacturing software applications and system integrations ensuring maintainability and scalability.
- Contribute to developing business digitization standardization tools, reusable components and promoting best practices in industrial software engineering.
Manufacturing Operations Platform
- Architect and develop a scalable Manufacturing Operations Platform aligned with ISA-95 standards.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, system designs, software architecture, APIs, workflows, and user documentation. Practice highly available, fault-tolerant, and easy upkeep systems for 24/7 environments.
- Work across functions to provide horizontal scalability across multiple plants, production lines, and geographies.
- Own the design components of a connected factory architecture enabling Industry 4.0 capabilities.
- Enable real-time streaming and processing of manufacturing data using modern event streaming platforms.
- Integrate RFID, barcode, BLE, and IoT-based tracking technologies.
- Implement secure communication frameworks between devices, gateways, and enterprise systems.
- Digitize production workflows including work order management, routing, dispatching, and execution tracking.
- Design and build event-driven architectures for real-time production visibility.
- Integrate with ERP, PLM, and other enterprise systems via REST APIs, middleware, and messaging frameworks.
Shop-Floor Connectivity, Data Acquisition & Asset Tracking Lifecycle Management
- Integrate machines, equipment and industrial systems using various communication protocols.
- Design and implement edge data collection frameworks for reliable shop-floor communication.
- Build scalable data ingestion pipelines from third-party systems, sensors, and industrial equipment.
- Develop capabilities for real-time asset location tracking, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Develop and maintain data collection, reporting dashboards, monitoring and analytics solutions that provide real-time visibility into manufacturing operations including OEE.
- Develop and maintain data integration pipelines that collect, transform, and store information from manufacturing equipment, enterprise systems, and production databases.
YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor's deg. in Computer Science, Computer or Software Engineering, or a relatable technical discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience developing software applications in a manufacturing, industrial automation, engineering, or related technical environment.
- Proficiency in object-oriented software development using C#/.NET or another modern programming language.
- Experience developing and maintaining web-based applications using modern front-end technologies (e.g., Vue.js, React, Angular, JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and integrating software applications with enterprise systems.
- Experience working with relational databases (MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent), including database design and SQL development.
- Understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and modern software development best practices.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, production workflows, or industrial automation concepts.
- Experience using version control systems (Git or equivalent) and familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal skills to effectively communicate across engineering, operations, and IT teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and as part of an engineering team.
- Must be eligible to meet all CGP and ITAR requirements.
