Manitoba Parks is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Maintenance Tradesperson at Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park. Hecla is located approximately 165 km (102.5 miles) north of Winnipeg.
The park encompasses 108,500 hectares and is characterized by a peninsula of land and several islands adjacent to the waters of Lake Winnipeg. The landscapes include coniferous and mixed forests, limestone cliffs, beaches, hiking trails, and marshes.
Gull Harbour Campground offers both campsites and comfort cabins. This position plays an important role in maintaining park infrastructure and facilities to ensure a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for park visitors.
Duties:
Under the supervision of the Hecla PK3 the incumbent is responsible for the maintenance, daily testing and operation of Class 2 Wastewater Treatment and Class 1 Water Treatment facilities. The waste treatment facilities include an elaborate treatment system with an aeration lagoon, blowers, discharge/circulation pumps chlorinators and complex electrical/mechanical components. The incumbent is responsible for the safe potable water and treatment of waste generated by 120 cottagers, a 90 room full season resort and a 220 site campground, 12 motels units and 21 vacation cabins the incumbent will perform calculations and make adjustments to ensure facilities are operating within the established drinking water regulations and operating licences.

Qualifications:
Essential:
-
Experience performing plumbing repairs and installations.
-
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
-
Ability to interpret manuals to trouble shoot problems and perform regular maintenance on equipment.
-
Good verbal communication skills.
-
Experience in the operation of water treatment, distribution and/or waste water collection and treatment systems.
Desired:
- Experience in building construction, repair and maintenance.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health policies and procedures.

Must possess and maintain a vaild full stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence

Must be physically able to perform the duties of the postion including lifting up to 50 lbs

Must be able to work weekends, evenings and statutory holidays as required. Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in various weather conditions

Must hold current Certification in Class 2 Waste Water Collection, Class 2 Waste Water Treatment, Class 1 Water Treatment and Class 1 Water Distribution
