About the role
Lift Operations Foreman Reports to: Lift Operations Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor Position Overview The Lift Operations Foreman works as part of the Mountain Operations team. They will assist in all aspects of Lift Operations including onsite daily supervision of Lift Operations staff, assisting in training new Lift Operations staff, having knowledge and understanding of all procedures for Lift Operations and related safety procedures, addressing any safety issues which would put an employee or guest in an unsafe situation, maintain the inventory all Lift Operations lift tools, ensuring mazes and ramps are maintained at all times, ensuring all start up and shut down procedures are followed and completed at every lift. The Lift Operations Foreman will also help maintain records and documents such as daily lift logs, lift incident reports, etc. The incumbent should expect to be working outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions. This is a full-time seasonal role, 5 days out of 7 per week. Alberta Employment Standards regarding probationary periods apply. Job Duties/Responsibilities All duties of a Lift Operator, including but not limited to: Operate aerial and surface lifts Safely load/unload all passengers Greet all patrons as they navigate through the lift lines and identify personal needs (i.e. slowing down the lift for beginners/children) Complete and record all daily lift checks and observations Complete emergency/accident investigation paperwork as required Maintain mazes, ramps and head traps Carry out assigned duties such as lift rotations, shovel crew and spare work Perform Ticket Control duties, assist any guests with faulty lift passes Must pass the Lift Operations Exam with a score of 80% or better Adherence to the company’s practices and procedures as set in the ‘Lift Operations Training Manual’ All Marmot Basin employees will conduct themselves in compliance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation as it relates to their job Foreman duties, including but not limited to: Daily supervision of Lift Operations staff per Ski Marmot Basin’s Lift Operations Training Manual, ski industry best practices and company policies/procedures Ensure all Lift Operators are competent in lift duties, daily operating procedures and emergency procedures Good working knowledge and understanding of all lift operations/safety procedures; ensure staff compliance and excellence in same Ensure mazes and ramps are always maintained Help maintain an inventory of all Lift Operations tools & materials Help maintain lift records and documents Maintain proper lift standards as per the Z-98 code Ensure a safe working environment for all Lift Operators, address or report any unsafe situations Ensure all start up/shut down procedures are followed and completed at each lift daily Any additional duties as assigned Requirements: Must be 18 years or older Provide own riding equipment Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability Previous experience operating surface and aerial chairlifts Must possess an enthusiastic and positive attitude Enjoy interacting with the public Enjoy working outdoors in the winter Capable and willing to work outside at times in severe weather environment Attributes: Professional deportment with excellent customer service skills: experience dealing with all on-hill patrons Cheerful, outgoing personality; demonstrated temperament and disposition for sometimes highly stressful situations Strong team member able to take direction Motivated and observant; able to perceive needed tasks and complete them without direction Self-aware; able to identify strengths and gaps in own abilities and training Able to use taught skills and previous experience to problem solve Qualifications: Ski Industry experience (within Lift Operations preferred) Previous experience operating surface lifts and aerial chairlifts Previous supervisory experience (an asset) Previous experience in front-facing customer service roles Able to ski/snowboard in all types of mountain terrain in varying conditions Mechanical background (an asset) Physically fit Supplementary: Respect and adhere to the company’s policies and procedures as set in the Corporate Policies, Employee Handbook and other training manuals
