JOB OPPORTUNITY
The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory located north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual interested in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of:
SCHOOL PERSEVERANCE OFFICER – ESUMA
(PERMANENT, FULL-TIME)
Under the supervision of the ESUMA Coordinator of the Sustainable Employment Department, the School Perseverance Officer is responsible to initiate and follow-up actions in order to develop, in close collaboration with the communities, concerted actions promoting school perseverance and educational success. The School Perseverance Officer has responsibility for, without being limited to, the following duties:

Raise awareness and work in concert with the various actors who influence school perseverance and educational success;

Organize and promote local meetings to implement the actions provided for in the plan;

Support local stakeholders in the development of projects;

Make recommendations and ensure the administrative follow-ups of projects;

Create links with the communities to promote the development of educational partnerships in order to have a positive impact on the success and academic perseverance of students;

Support schools in the planning, development and evaluation of projects involving the school, families and/or the communities;

Participate in the organization of certain activities of the school network involving partners;

Offer support to local communities in the implementation of each of the mobilization stages leading to the development, implementation, and monitoring of action plans.

Carry out any related tasks as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS

Hold a post-secondary diploma in communication, education, or any other appropriate field of specialization;

2 years relevant experience;

Demonstrate excellent professional autonomy in order to work with ease within an organization that serves a remote region;

Knowledge of the issues of school perseverance and educational success priorities;

Strong interpersonal communication, organizational, file management and adaptation skills;
-
Initiative, leadership, teamwork, and partnership skills;
-
Skilled in developing orientations likely to mobilize community partners;
-
Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages; Inuktitut, English and French;

Able to travel within Nunavik.
Place of work: Kuujjuaq
Salary: Min: $ 52,481.52/year, max: $ 89,256.44year (Class 8)
Benefits: Cost of living differential: Min $8 500/year;
Food allowance: Min $4,399/year;
Annual leave trips: Maximum of 3 per person/year;
Simplified pension plan: 6,25% employer; 4% employee;

Vacation: 20 Days;
Statutory Holidays: 20 days, including 10 during Christmas holidays.

The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) was established in 1978 under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement to provide public services to Nunavimmiut. Its core responsibilities are outlined in the Act respecting Northern Villages and the Kativik Regional Government (Kativik Act). Additional mandates have been assigned by the region’s municipalities and the Québec government.
