About the role
Role Description This is a full time role for a Purchasing Manager/Shop Manager based in Langley, BC, with some flexibility to work from home a few times per month . The Purchasing Manager/Shop Manager will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory, and ensuring timely delivery of equipment and supplies for projects. The role includes coordinating with project managers, estimators, and shop staff to align purchasing decisions with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Day-to-day responsibilities will include overseeing the shop workflow, organizing and prioritizing work orders, monitoring stock levels, and maintaining accurate purchasing and inventory records. The person in this position will also help improve purchasing processes, support vendor performance evaluations, and uphold safety and QA/QC procedures in the shop environment.
Qualifications Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, ideally within construction, HVAC, or sheet metal fabrication. Worked as a lead or foreman in a sheet metal shop Strong shop management skills, including workflow coordination, inventory control, and familiarity with tools, materials, and equipment used in mechanical sheet metal work. Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers, manage vendor relationships, and assess cost, quality, and delivery performance. Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., Excel, Word, email) and the ability to learn or use inventory or ERP systems. Solid organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and recordkeeping. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams, field crews, and external partners. Understanding of safety practices and QA/QC processes in an industrial or construction environment. Relevant post-secondary education or technical training in supply chain, business, construction management, or a related field is an asset. Sheet Metal Ticketed Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a shop or operations setting is an advantage. Ability to work on site in Langley, BC on a regular basis, with some tasks performed remotely as needed.
