Specialty Instructor – Skating and Beginner Hockey Skills
About the role
Location: East Hants Sportsplex, Lantz, NS
East Hants is excited to offer specialty skill-based day camps this summer focusing on Learning to Skate and Beginner Hockey Skills at the East Hants Sportsplex. We are looking for a qualified instructor to deliver the skill-based portion of the day camps for the following dates:
- Learn to Skate Camp – July 13 – 17, 2026
- Beginner Hockey Skills Camp – August 10 – 14, 2026
Responsibilities:
- Instruct children of varying abilities and levels the fundamental skating & hockey skills based on the outcomes provided.
- Prepare lesson plans for a variety of skill levels
- Set up/take down ice and equipment for lessons
- Maintain a fun and safe learning environment
- Work cooperatively with municipal staff and recreation leaders
Qualifications:
- NCCP Coaching Course an asset
- Strong skating skills
- Experience instructing fundamental skating and hockey skills to children
- Current Criminal Record Check & Child Abuse Registry Check
Hours: 2-4 hours p/day (time slots vary between 9am and 3pm)
Hourly Rate: $30 p/hr
