What will you do? A hands-on Senior Architect, Business Intelligence who thrives in a dynamic work environment, this role involves working across the entire BI lifecycle, from source data analysis, Extract Transform Load (ETL) development, through to Analysis and Reporting implementation. This role is accountable for the build out of Data and Analytics platform solutions and the implementation of tools needed to enable data discovery, predictive analytics and other features. This role will design, develop, implement and support solutions that empower the business with timely, actionable information. This role is passionate about new, modern BI technologies/solutions and proposes the solutions that keep Pet Valu BI solution as best in class. The Sr Architect BI acts as a mentor on best practices, both for the development team and for the business in their acceptance of new BI solutions, helping them become more mature in terms of the understanding and correct utilization of their department’s data assets.
Essential Duties
- Promote BI architect concepts and solutions to IT, and business team members.
- Collaborate, support other IT departments and business partners on BI/reporting initiatives/requests.
- Research/Review new BI technologies and solutions. Propose new BI technology to ensure BI platforms continue support business needs.
- Providing inputs to BI strategy, and the short term/long term BI roadmap.
- Design Pet Valu Business Intelligent data and data analytic platforms to enable self-service BI capability to different business units.
- Design and implement automated processes, tool sets to enable efficient self-service.
- Define/maintain enterprise-wide standards, best practices, policies on BI development, security, operation, availability.
- Provide Business Intelligence solutions including analytics, dashboards and reports to support Pet Valu in making informed decisions that increase the bottom line through improved quality and services.
- Apply software engineering concepts and best practices to design solutions that meets operational requirements, such as scalability, maintainability, extensibility, and flexibility.
- Rotated 24/7 Application on call support.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Skills, Experience, Education, Certifications
At least 7 years of professional software development experience. 5 years of BI architect experience. Bachelor’s degree required, master’s in computer science or equivalent preferred. Experience proposing BI strategy, defining short term/long term BI roadmaps. Experience with large scale systems involving reporting, transactional systems and integration with other enterprise systems. Experience with modern BI data and visualization cloud bases platforms, Snowflake, Tableau, PowerBI, as example. Deep understanding of modern data architecture, such as data mesh, data fabric, data lake. Experience with ELT/ETL development and data integration.
Proficiency in system analysis and design
Collaborate with the Business Analysts in requirements gathering, prototyping and requirements validation. Analyze and verify technical requirements for completeness, consistency, feasibility, and testability. Resolving technical issues through debugging & investigation. Experience with multiple Source/Version control systems and understanding of code merging concepts. Working with high performing technology teams. Experience with Agile software development methodologies, source control, and automated testing and deployment. Experience with ITIL framework. Collaborate with the Business Analysts in requirements gathering, prototyping and requirements validation. Analyze and verify technical requirements for completeness, consistency, feasibility, and testability.

Technical Acumen - strong understanding of software Java development concepts, procedures, and technologies utilizing Agile Scrum Methodology.
Compensation
The targeted salary range for this position is $110,000-$140,000 annually. The final offer will be based on factors such as market location, relevant skills, experience and internal equity.
