About the role
Our client is a well-established, full-service agricultural input retailer serving commercial grain and oilseed producers in Southwestern Ontario. With deep local roots and a strong reputation among growers, the organization is focused on agronomic integrity, disciplined sales execution and long-term customer relationships. This role is responsible for managing and growing a defined sales territory, providing agronomic advice, crop input solutions, and in-season support to field crop customers. The position combines on-farm agronomy, relationship management and proactive business development.
Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will
Manage and grow a defined territory of commercial field crop customers. Provide agronomic advice and crop protection recommendations, including in-season troubleshooting and field visits. Develop annual sales plans, execute territory strategies and track performance against targets. Prepare accurate, timely pricing and approved quotes aligned with company programs and margins. Conduct regular on-farm calls, including prospecting and cold calls, to develop new relationships. Support customers with crop planning, input selection and plant health solutions. Coordinate with location, operations, and agronomy teams to ensure seamless service delivery. Participate in field activities including crop scouting, trials, soil sampling and demonstration plots. Resolve customer issues and complaints promptly to maintain trust and long-term relationships. Maintain accurate sales reporting, CRM activity and administrative documentation. Participate in ongoing training related to agronomy, crop inputs and sales development and strategy.
Your background includes
Post-secondary education in agriculture, agronomy, crop science, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience). 3+ years of agronomic sales or crop input experience preferred. Solid understanding of Southwestern Ontario field crop production systems. Demonstrated ability to build relationships, manage a territory, and deliver consistent sales results. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage the team, growers and other stakeholders. High level of organization, time management and self-direction. Customer-focused, solutions-oriented mindset with a practical, field-based approach. Experience with crop scouting, soil sampling, or field trials is considered an asset. Certified Crop Advisor (CCA-ON) designation is an asset, or willingness to obtain. Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel regularly within the assigned territory.
This is a hybrid work from home and retail office role, with significant travel within the region, and weekend work during busy seasons. The position offers a competitive salary, vehicle, and professional development.
