About the role
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, flexible, and growth-oriented Behavioural Therapist to join our team at Beyond Barriers Therapy Center (BBTC). The ideal candidate will support both children and adults with diverse needs, with a primary focus on individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder while also working beyond a single-diagnosis model. As one of the few centers offering services across the lifespan, we value clinicians who are adaptable and open to working with a wide range of behavioural presentations. BBTC is a fully Assent-Based practice. All therapists are expected to deliver services that prioritize client autonomy, dignity, and willingness to participate. Candidates must either have prior experience with assent-based approaches or demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and complete training provided by the organization. A commitment to ethical, compassionate care and collaborative teamwork is essential.
Duties
Conduct assessments and assist in the development and implementation of individualized, assent-based treatment plans tailored to each client’s unique needs. Implement evidence-based behavioural interventions while ensuring ongoing client assent and engagement. Collect, record, and analyze data using a variety of methods, including Discrete Trial Training (DTT), probe data, ABC (Antecedent-Behaviour-Consequence) data, and narrative data collection. Complete detailed and accurate session notes at the end of each session in accordance with organizational and clinical standards. Monitor and evaluate client progress and adjust intervention strategies in collaboration with supervising clinicians. Work collaboratively with families, caregivers, and other professionals to support consistency and generalization of skills across environments. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions, progress, and treatment outcomes. Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training to ensure high-quality service delivery. Provide support with case coordination, including communication with other service providers and referrals as needed.
Experience
Previous experience in behavioural therapy, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), or related fields is preferred. Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder is highly valued; experience working with adults and/or a broader range of diagnoses is considered a strong asset. Proficiency in data collection methods, including DTT, probe, ABC, and narrative data collection, is required. Strong clinical writing skills, particularly in completing session notes and documentation, are essential. Familiarity with assent-based, trauma-informed, or client-centred approaches is highly desirable. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to a variety of client needs and settings. Commitment to ongoing professional development and openness to training in assent-based practices if not already experienced. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact while working within a progressive, ethical, and supportive clinical environment that values both client and clinician growth.
