Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) to support aircraft development, certification, production, and in-service programs. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with electromagnetic compatibility requirements and protecting aircraft systems and structures from electromagnetic threats including Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), High-Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Low-Intensity Radiated Fields (LIRF), Lightning Effects, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).
The role involves executing complex EMC engineering assignments including technical analyses, similarity assessments, simulations, and compliance evaluations. The engineer will support the resolution of EMC-related issues impacting certification, production, and operational aircraft while ensuring compliance with applicable aerospace regulations and industry standards.
The candidate will evaluate new and modified aircraft systems and structures to determine EMC impacts and define appropriate compliance strategies. Responsibilities include reviewing and preparing engineering documentation such as EMC test procedures, test reports, analysis reports, and certification compliance documentation.
The selected candidate will support aircraft-level EMC qualification testing activities including planning, witnessing, coordinating, and reporting of EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and ESD tests. The role also includes participation in technical reviews, project planning, and risk assessment activities to support successful program execution.
Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineering, certification, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to ensure EMC requirements are effectively integrated throughout the aircraft development lifecycle. The role may also include mentoring junior engineers and supporting continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
Candidate Profile Expectations
Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering, Engineering Sciences, Physics, or a related discipline
Minimum 8+ years of Aerospace EMC Qualification/Certification experience
Strong expertise in EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning Protection, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
Experience with RTCA DO-160 and SAE ARP Standards
Familiarity with FAA, EASA, and TCCA Airworthiness Regulations
Experience preparing EMC Test Procedures, Test Reports, and Compliance Documentation
Experience supporting Aircraft EMC Testing and Certification Activities
Ability to perform technical analyses and resolve complex EMC issues
Experience working within multidisciplinary aerospace engineering teams
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
Experience Mentoring Junior Engineers Is Preferred
Fuel Tank Ignition Prevention experience is considered an asset
EMC Simulation Tool experience is considered an asset
