Senior Server and Network Administrator
About the role
The City of Morden is looking to hire a Senior Server and Network Administrator to lead, secure, and modernize our core technology ecosystem. Reporting to the Director of IT, the Senior Server and Network Administrator will ensure the secure, reliable, and compliant operation of the City’s physical/virtual servers, wired/wireless networks, cloud systems, telecom, and municipal technology infrastructure. You will balance high-level infrastructure administration with hands-on end-user support and major project deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain physical and virtual server environments, manage hardware lifecycles, oversee backups/disaster recovery, and support Asterisk/VoIP PBX and NVR security camera systems. Configure and maintain firewalls, switches, VLANs, VPNs, radio backhauls, and site-to-site connectivity for multi-site municipal facilities. Administer Microsoft 365 services (Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams), focusing on cloud security, mail flow, and compliance. Lead patch management, monitor threats (malware/phishing), enforce privileged access security, and participate in incident response. Maintain clear system documentation and standard operating procedures while regularly providing tier-2/3 end-user and endpoint troubleshooting.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma/Degree in IT, Computer Science, Network/Systems Administration, or equivalent combined experience. 10+ years in IT/Infrastructure, including 3+ years in a senior technical role (e.g., Senior Systems or Network Admin). Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Windows 11, routing/firewalls, M365, VoIP/SIP, and backup systems. Standard 8-hour workday; must be open to occasional after-hours maintenance/emergencies, equipment lifting, and local facility visits.
