CTS Instructor: Trades and Outdoor Education - Permanent - Full Time
About the role
Under the direction and supervision of the Principal and the guidance of a teacher, the Career and Technology Studies (CTS) Instructor provides educational/business instruction to students within a specified Division CTS Program. The CTS Instructor is a self-managing, life-long learner who is committed to working with others to optimize student learning.
This position is a CTS Career Pathway Program for Grades 10 - 12 at Foothills Composite High School and this role will be responsible for supporting in fabrication, construction, mechanics and outdoor education. The successful candidate needs experience in the trades and the ability to successful engage and work with high school students**.**
This positions follows the school calendar and works approximately 35 hours each week.
Duties include:

Assist the teacher in designing and implementing individualized and group programs to meet the varied learning needs of each student within a supportive learning environment.

In collaboration with the teacher, maintain ongoing student assessment records.

Under the supervision of the teacher, provide formative feedback to students.

Order, prepare and organize program materials and resources according to curriculum and industry standards; maintain resources, as required.

In collaboration with the teacher, prepare financial records and deposits on a regular basis.

Perform other related duties, as required.
Successful candidates should ideally hold a journeyperson in the trades, for example welding, carpentry or mechanics. Having expertise and experience in at least one of the trades mentioned above, and a willingness to support all of the trade options and outdoor education would be required. It is necessary to have the ability to follow instruction, be flexible and adapt to the needs of students as well as the motivation to learn and grow within the trades and the education of students.
