Compensation Salary range: $110,000 - $130,000Position Summary Reporting to the Track Manager, the Track Supervisor will comply with all regulatory and company safety and operational policies and procedures. The Track Supervisor is responsible for managing and directing multiple Track Maintenance crews and Track Protection Workers to deliver a successful project by meeting or exceeding safety goals, quality standard, production rates, schedule and customer satisfaction. The Track Supervisor has a proven track record in rail construction, maintenance & planning, including but not limited to constructing new track, maintaining or repairing track, constructing and maintaining turnouts, distressing rail, rail changes, and other related activities. The Track Supervisor will further provide direct support for maintenance, construction, and third-party projects by planning, scheduling, monitoring, auditing, and supplying track protection employees as well as aligning and scheduling resources to protect and clear designated locations during winter operations.Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties . Embrace PNR safety culture, adhering to industry and company policies and procedures while continuously providing themselves, fellow employees, and the general public a safe working environment. · Directly oversees with the assistance of two (2) Assistant Track Supervisors multiple Track Maintenance Crews, Operators, and Welding resources to perform preventative and corrective track maintenance and Right-of-way maintenance operations throughout the project area. · Directly oversees the process of Track Protection Requests and services in various forms on a daily basis. E.g., TOP, Rule 842, Rule 841, and Safety Watch. Provide reports as required to the Management team. · Directly oversees the Winter Operation and scheduling as it pertains to flagging protection for contract specific platforms and PNR performed snow clearing at Ottawa Station. · Responsible for interacting with customers to establish their track protection needs, provides recommendations, and supports internal and external stakeholders. · Responsible for the scheduling and shift planning of all track protection employees including to time entry monitoring, approvals, and accurate coding. · Builds and maintains relationships with Clients. · Review project contracts & documents and plan work to ensure that the project is executed in accordance with the contract documents. · Pre-plan work activities with the Assistant Track Supervisors to develop the best means & methods, including safety action plans. · Plan and execute day to day operations on assigned projects and ensure that proper resources are in place for the timely completion of work – labour, equipment, & material. · Responsible for crew and employee performance as related to company goals, safety audits, administration of company policies & procedures. Conduct tailgate meetings. Initiates follow up actions as necessary including training, orientation, discipline, etc. · Investigates and supports the investigation of track maintenance or track protection incidents and violations, safety issues, and renders corrective actions in a timely manner. · Conduct briefings with crew to review goals, performance feedback, safety and schedule, hazards and to solicit feedback from workers. · Perform a variety of related administrative task such as production reports, time collection, equipment logs, inspection reports, extra work records, reviews cost reports with team members, & other related project based responsibilities · Able to appreciate time sensitive duties, plan and execute accurately to achieve daily goals and production in a safe manner according to industry standards. · Demonstrated leadership qualities and abilities; applies innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.Required Skills and Qualifications · Completion of grade twelve (12) or equivalent. · Five (5) to ten (10) years construction experience on railway and/or maintenance environments including experience with tie changes; constructing, maintaining or repairing track; cutting, drilling or gauging rail; constructing turnouts, distressing rail; rail changes; providing track protection services, and other related activities. · Must have a valid Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR) and Track Inspection Guideline (TIG) certifications - will provide training if certifications have expired. · Supervisory experience directing and organizing work for multiple crews of workers. · Proven track record of having delivered successful projects. · Exceptional analytical, planning, problem solving and organizational skills. · Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work to deadlines. · Ability to build relationships and work effectively with a team. · Self-motivated, innovative, committed and honest. · Strong computer skills. · Understand the purpose & use of all rail equipment & a sound knowledge of the use of all rail specific hand power tools. · Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures and regulations. · Ability to read technical drawings and specifications. · Effective communication skills and the ability to work as a team to jointly carry out assigned tasks. · Strong client relations, influencing skills and organizational skills. · Must have a valid driver’s license for operation within Ontario.  Physical Requirements and Working Conditions · Work in office and outdoor environments and may be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather. · Works around moving machines, vehicles, and equipment. · Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, and crouches while negotiating work areas under construction and maintenance. · Exposed to loud noise. · Exposure to live track/trains and high voltage.Company Overview This job description is not intended to represent a complete, comprehensive list of all duties and responsibilities that may be required in this position.  There may be unplanned activities and other duties as assigned.  RailWorks is North America’s leading rail maintenance and infrastructure solutions provider.
