About the role
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of electrical equipment by implementing maintenance programs, resolving electrical issues, ensuring compliance with regulations and contributing to operational efficiency. More specifically you will:
- Develop and implement periodic programs to minimize downtime and maximize the lifespan of electrical equipment.
- Identify and solve electrical problems efficiently, using advanced diagnostic tools and a thorough understanding of electrical diagrams.
- Support teams performing repairs on faulty equipment, as well as the replacement of defective components, ensuring quick availability of spare parts.
- Work on optimizing electrical systems to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Ensure that all electrical equipment complies with electrical safety standards and regulations.
- Train employees on the safe use of electrical equipment and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of electrical infrastructure projects, in coordination with other departments.
- Establish and monitor performance indicators to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure effective coordination of electrical maintenance activities.
- Stay informed about technological advancements and recommend upgrades to keep up with industry best practices.
- Provide support for CAPEX projects in their development and execution.
- Manage electrical shutdowns to conduct maintenance on electrical equipment.
- Contribute to maintaining the electrical safety program against electrical arc flashes.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in a similar role within the industrial sector;
- University degree in electrical engineering;
- Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
- Ability to work confidently and autonomously and to establish priorities;
- Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken). Fluency in English is required for this position, as you will interact with English-speaking suppliers, stakeholders or clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Successful completion of the security screening process and obtainment of the required security clearance under the Federal Government’s Contract Security Program (minimum of 5 years of residency in Canada, with no interruption of 6 consecutive months.
