About the role
Your Opportunity:
The Nurse Practitioner provides specialized care and management of clients living with chronic disease and multiple co-morbidities. The Nurse Practitioner has additional education and training to provide advanced clinical skills, make critical management decisions, and facilities consistent client-centered care as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. The Nurse Practitioner collaborates with Home Care staff, attending physicians and specialists to acquire and utilize best practice, evidence and resources needed for individual situations and to make adjustments and optimize program delivery. The NP participates in program committees, quality improvement programs, and may lead nursing research initiatives as well as providing education to provide mentorship to new NPs, NP students and other healthcare providers.
Description:
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of full time (or equivalent number of hours) clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner experience required, with at least 1 of the last 3 years working with adults with chronic disease.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a community setting or long term care setting would be preferred. Experience with the development and/or implementation of evidence based practice. Experience with program development. Experience with clinical or scientific research. Microsoft Office Suite knowledge. Connect Care
