The Research Associate- Bachelor of Social Work will work in the Online Therapy Unit for Service, Education and Research located at the University of Regina. This unit is responsible for developing and evaluating an Internet-delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (ICBT) for various mental health conditions in Saskatchewan. ICBT involves clients reviewing psychoeducational materials over the internet and therapists providing support and directing therapeutic activities on a weekly basis typically via secure messaging and telephone calls.
The Research Associate (Clinical Team) – Bachelor of Social Work provides intake support to therapists by completing screening interviews with clients that are interested in ICBT. The screener also tracks client flow through the unit and supplies the Operations Director and Executive Director with basic statistics on service use. This position also assists with administrative and research tasks (e.g., social media, advertising and promoting services, data entry and analysis, preparation of slides, preparing letters to physicians re clients, and connecting with clients to gather follow-up).
The Research Associate (Clinical Team) – Bachelor of Social Work must be registered to practice in the province of Saskatchewan with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW) . The incumbent will be required to follow protocols as approved by the Research Ethics Board and maintain client records in accordance with health record legislation and research protocol and contribute to the planning and executing studies (e.g., tracking strengths and challenges in delivering ICBT; tracking time required to deliver services).
Position Requirements
What You’ll Bring to this Position:
- The skills associated with this position would typically be obtained through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with a combination of relevant skills and experience in mental health.
- The successful candidate must be registered in good standing with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Work for the duration of their employment.
- Must have the ability to be self directed and work relatively independently within a team
- Must have skill in complex decision-making and problem-solving ability through application of knowledge, critical thinking and sound clinical, legal and ethical judgment.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with other providers and research team.
- Must have highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Must have strong computer skills.
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
- Previous experience working with a mental health population is an asset.
- Previous experience conducting assessments on the phone is an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates that possess a combination of both clinical and research experience.
Physical Demands Pay Grade As Per CUPE 5791 Research Salary Range ($36,972.00- $ 43,020.9 annually) Dependant on experience and training of candidate. Status Term Work Hours
The hours of work for this position are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm (22.5 hours per week)
This position is on location at the University of Regina, remote work is not available.
