We have an opportunity for a Business Development Representative to join our Travel and Leisure team. This position is a 6-month contract with the potential to transition into a full-time role.
As a Business Development Representative, your focus is to identify growth opportunities, build strategic relationships, and drive initiatives that contribute to PressReader’s long-term success. This is a great opportunity for a vibrant salesperson who excels in collaboration and who wants to shape PressReader’s growth strategy, focusing on new customer acquisition in underdeveloped markets.
In this role you will:
- Identify and research potential travel partners, including hotels, groups, and management companies across target regions to understand their structure, guest profile, and needs.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects across targeted regions and segments.
- Identify key decision-makers within each property (ex., General Manager, Director of Operations, Director of Guest Experience, IT Director).
- Conduct high-volume outbound calls to hotels to introduce the company’s services and generate interest.
- Send personalized outreach emails and LinkedIn messages to prospective clients.
- Respond to inbound web form submissions, demo requests, and marketing-generated leads within defined SLA windows.
- Qualify and route inbound leads that meet the target customer profile to the appropriate Sales Manager.
- Track and report on inbound lead volume, response time, and conversion to meeting.
- Schedule and coordinate qualified meetings and product demonstrations, ensuring all stakeholders are prepared.
- Prepare short prospect briefs and support follow-up communication to maintain engagement and advance opportunities
- Work closely with Sales Managers to align on target accounts and outreach strategies.
- Provide feedback from the market regarding customer needs, objections, and trends.
- Achieve weekly and monthly targets for outbound calls, emails, and meetings booked.
- Maintain accurate pipeline activity and reporting in the CRM, tracking all activities, conversations, and outcomes
- Enrich prospect and account records with accurate contact information, property details, and organizational structure.
- Maintain data hygiene standards including deduplication and record completeness.
You are a great fit if you have:
- At least 1 year of proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the publishing industry selling software or technology-related products
- A goal-oriented and self-motivated attitude
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a focus on efficiency
- Proficiency or understanding of CRM, prospecting, and sales navigation tools
- Exceptional sales skills to persuade and pitch ideas effectively
- Strong ability to negotiate and close deals beneficially
- Experience selling in multiple geographic regions, and to organizations of varying sizes
- The ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of financial principles and ability to create targets and forecasts to drive revenue
- A positive mindset and a collaborative approach
Bonus points if you have:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in business administration, economics, marketing, or related field.
- Proficiency in any second language
- Experience in using CRM and sales navigation tools
- A keen interest in published media, media intelligence, or data analytics

This position is based in our Richmond, BC office and requires to be on-premises two days a week. When not in the office, employees have an opportunity to work remotely.
PressReader is committed to providing a fair compensation package which includes 15 paid vacation days to start, health and wellness days and bereavement days, reimbursements for professional training and membership in professional associations, fitness subsidy and more, along with a chance to be working with amazing people! The compensation package for this role includes a base salary ranging from $50,000 to $60,000, depending on experience, along with a variable pay component based on performance. Please note that this position is not eligible for extended health and dental benefits, as it is a contract role. Eligibility may be revisited if the individual becomes permanent.
