A preferred tourist destination, a great place to live and play, now is the time to consider making this amazing place your home.Utility Operator I Position OverviewThe Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is currently inviting applications for the temporary full-time position of Utility Operator I to perform directed manual and machine-assisted work necessary to construct and maintain the wastewater and potable water systems owned and operated by the SCRD. Work is performed to ensure that service delivery meets the needs of internal and external customers, in accordance with the appropriate regulatory and license requirements. Further details are included in the job description found at www.scrd.ca/careers.Compensation and BenefitsWe have what is being called one of the best compensation and benefits packages that are out there. Immediately upon hire this position includes an additional $3.05 per hour cash-in-lieu of benefits, offers 6% vacation pay, and after 30 days of employment the wage rate will include an additional 5% in lieu of statutory holiday pay. After 90 days of employment, casual employees are eligible for up to five (5) paid sick days for previously scheduled work. Please note that current regular employees of the SCRD who post into temporary vacancies will retain full benefit coverage.Utility Operator I is a bargaining unit position with a wage rate of $35.38 per hour, working 37.5 hours per week, in a temporary capacity. Upon the return of the incumbent, this position will move from temporary full-time to casual and will have the opportunity to join the General Casual List.How to ApplyWe welcome your application! Providing good government for the communities it serves. Providing services that the board considers as necessary or desirable for all or a part of its communities. Through the electoral area and municipal partnerships, the SCRD provides services that can be regional (supplied to the whole region), inter-municipal (supplied to two or more members within the region) or local (provided to electoral areas, or within a subset of an electoral area, within the region).
