Summary
We are hiring a Tower Crane Operator to join our team, initially based on the Dalewood Water Reclamation Facility project in St. Thomas, ON.
As a Tower Crane Operator you will be responsible for operating the crane in a safe and appropriate manner. You must always perform circle checks of equipment and clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies and procedures. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Position Duties
Check heavy equipment using approved circle check procedures before operating them to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting Diagnose / identify defects in heavy duty equipment.
Clean, lubricate and perform other minor maintenance work
Instruct apprentices if required Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and regulations Assist in loading and unloading of equipment
Requirements
Ontario or Interprovincial Tower Crane Operators license
Must have experience in a heavy civil construction environment Knowledge of construction equipment safety Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage Knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform minor routine equipment maintenance Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
