About the role
SUMMARY: This position is a vital part of the construction team which designs, constructs, repairs, and maintains structures using various types of materials and is responsible for the full range of rough and finished skilled carpentry work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, construct, remodel, retrofit and repair interior and exterior structures made of wood, drywall, plaster, concrete or brick Work with instructions and/or blueprints from Site Superintendent Utilize chisels, planes saws, drills and sanders to repair and erect structures Join materials with nails, screws, staples or adhesives Work on top of stilts, ladders, and top beams of buildings Check work progress to ensure that it meets quality standards, codes and specifications Use levels, rules, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure Work with pre-fabricated buildings Build stairs and other structures Create structures for pouring concrete Erect scaffolding Install partitions, doors and windows Ensure all safety standards are followed when working on construction sites Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2 years' experience as a carpenter in commercial or industrial construction (includes rough and finished carpentry) Red Seal or equivalent interprovincial ticket is an asset Must be open to performing physical activities (Lifting equipment up to 50 lbs) Demonstrated ability to use manual tools and equipment safely Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time Have access to a personal vehicle and a valid BC Driver’s license as you will be assigned to different jobsites Have carpentry hand tools (belt, tape, hammer, square, level, etc.)
Fall Protection Training is required
MEWP Certification and Skidsteer/Telehandler Certification is an asset
