About the role
POSITION: Secondary Resource Teacher in Alternative Program - temporary
ASSIGNMENT: Science, Home Economics - Foods/Nutrition. 3 Blocks of Science and 2 Blocks of Foods. Teaching schedule includes Interpersonal Family Relationships (Rap) daily as part of alternate program. 1 Prep block and case management time provided for CBIEP student learning plan development and student planning.
FTE: 1.0
LOCATION: McNaughton Center
EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing September 1, 2026 until December 31, 2026, or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent, with the possibility of extension and/or reduction in FTE.
Basic Qualifications: A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:
Training Specialization: Secondary Education with a major/minor in Science
Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience teaching at the secondary level
A Reasonable Expectation based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.
Additional Qualifications
Two or more courses at the 300 or 400 level in Science Candidate must have, or acquire, a Foods Safe Certificate
Other: The focus of the program at McNaughton Centre is to foster positive relationships and support students in academic and social goals. It is important that the successful candidate be willing to collaborate and be part of a team that is creative and supportive in achieving student success.
The annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $64,901 to $116,190 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
