NorthStream Safety & Rehab is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse and operational leader to oversee our occupational health and clinical operations. This is not solely a clinical nursing position. The Manager, Occupational Health & Clinical Operations is accountable for leading our occupational health nursing team, overseeing disability management services, supporting onsite operations and maintaining the quality and integrity of NorthStream’s medical and workplace testing programs.

The successful candidate will combine strong clinical judgment with practical leadership, operational discipline and the ability to manage services across multiple clients and locations.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

Lead, support and manage NorthStream’s occupational health nursing team and assigned clinical personnel. Oversee staffing, scheduling, onboarding, competency, coaching and performance management. Provide clinical and operational escalation support for complex cases and service concerns. Promote consistent practices, documentation and service standards across the organization.

Disability Management

Oversee the operational performance and quality of NorthStream’s disability management team. Monitor file quality, timeliness, client communication and return-to-work planning. Review complex or escalated cases and ensure appropriate clinical or management consultation. Support consistent, confidential and evidence-based disability management practices.

Onsite Operations

Ensure NorthStream’s onsite occupational health services are appropriately staffed, equipped and supported. Oversee new site implementations, staffing coverage, supplies, procedures and service continuity. Conduct site reviews and address operational, clinical or compliance concerns. Work with clients and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain service expectations.

Medical Programs and Compliance

Serve as the primary operational liaison with NorthStream’s Medical Director. Coordinate the review and implementation of medical directives, clinical protocols and occupational health programs. Maintain consistent and auditable processes for medical surveillance, workplace testing and clinical documentation. Ensure compliance with applicable professional standards, privacy requirements, client requirements and NorthStream policies. Lead quality-assurance reviews, incident investigations and corrective actions.

Drug and Alcohol Testing

Oversee the quality and integrity of NorthStream’s onsite, clinic-based and remotely supported drug and alcohol testing services. Ensure collectors are properly trained and testing procedures are consistently followed. Monitor chain of custody, documentation, equipment, test kits, laboratory processes and Medical Review Officer coordination. Review testing errors or procedural deviations and ensure corrective actions are completed. Maintain documented and auditable testing processes designed to support program integrity and defensibility.

Client and Business Support

Act as a senior occupational health resource for clients and internal teams. Support client implementations, program reviews and resolution of service concerns. Provide clinical and operational input for proposals, new programs and service improvements. Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and the client experience.

Qualifications

Required

Current registration as a Registered Nurse in good standing with an applicable Canadian nursing regulator. Minimum five years of occupational health, workplace health or related clinical experience. Demonstrated experience leading nurses, clinical teams or multidisciplinary personnel. Experience with workplace medical testing and occupational health programs. Experience with disability management and return-to-work processes. Knowledge of workplace drug and alcohol testing practices. Experience developing or implementing clinical policies, procedures and quality-assurance processes. Strong leadership, judgment, documentation and problem-solving skills. Ability to travel regularly and support geographically dispersed teams.

Preferred

Occupational health nursing certification or formal occupational health education. Disability management or return-to-work certification. Experience working with a Medical Director and medical directives. Experience overseeing onsite or remote industrial health operations. Experience in mining, construction, energy, manufacturing or another safety-sensitive industry. Experience with medical surveillance, point-of-care testing, laboratory testing or Medical Review Officer processes.

The successful candidate will ensure that: Clinical and disability management teams are well led and supported. Onsite operations run smoothly and service interruptions are addressed quickly. Medical programs remain current, consistent and compliant. Drug and alcohol testing processes are accurate, documented and auditable. Client concerns are resolved professionally and promptly. Risks, errors and quality concerns are identified, escalated and corrected. Full-Time Permanent | Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 annually, plus benefits

Remote and/or NorthStream Head Office, Thunder Bay, Ontario | Regular travel throughout Canada and occasional travel within North America
