Car Parts Advisor
About the role
A Car Parts Sales Associate (also called an Automotive Parts Salesperson or Parts Advisor) is responsible for helping customers identify and purchase the correct automotive parts and accessories.
Typical Job Duties Assist customers in person, over the phone, and by email with parts inquiries. Identify the correct parts using electronic parts catalogs and manufacturer databases. Prepare price quotations and process sales transactions. Order parts from suppliers and monitor deliveries. Maintain inventory, stock shelves, and conduct inventory counts. Receive and inspect incoming parts shipments. Process returns, warranties, and exchanges. Coordinate with mechanics, body shops, and wholesale customers. Recommend compatible replacement parts and accessories. Keep the parts department clean and organized. Prepare invoices, packing slips, and shipping documents when required.
Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of automotive parts and vehicle systems. Ability to use electronic parts catalog software (e.g., car-parts.com or other parts lookup systems). Strong customer service and communication skills. Basic computer and point-of-sale (POS) skills. Ability to lift and move automotive parts (typically up to 25–50 lbs). Attention to detail and organizational skills.
