Position Overview The Payroll Specialist will report to the Payroll & Benefits Lead and be responsible for the accurate, timely, and confidential processing of payroll across multiple entities. This role offers exposure to high-volume payroll operations within a dynamic environment, with the opportunity to support process improvements and cross-functional collaboration.
Duties & Responsibilities Process high-volume biweekly and semi-monthly payroll across multiple provinces Review and verify payroll transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness for each pay cycle Administer statutory deductions, remittances, and required payroll reporting Ensure compliance with employment standards, collective agreements, and internal policies Prepare payroll reports and process manual and off-cycle payments as required Issue Records of Employment (ROEs) in a timely and accurate manner Review and reconcile monthly benefits and related payroll entries Manage payroll remittances including CRA, WCB, union dues, and pension contributions Respond to payroll-related inquiries and provide support to operational teams Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and other ad hoc duties
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards Experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) or similar payroll systems preferred Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in MS Office Experience managing high-volume payroll in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally High level of professionalism with the ability to handle confidential information Benefits administration experience is an asset Experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset
